Axelrod Throws State Department Under Benghazi Bus
National Review ^ | 10/14/12 | Eliana Johnson

Posted on 10/14/2012 7:41:04 AM PDT by markomalley

The State Department is the latest casualty of the Obama administration’s obfuscation of the events surrounding the Benghazi attack.

Tearing a few pages out of the old Clinton playbook, David Axelrod carefully defined the word “we” this morning for Fox News’ Chris Wallace: when the Vice President said in Wednesday’s debate that “we” weren’t aware of the Benghazi consulate’s requests for increased security, “we” included only the President and the Vice President – not the Obama administration at large or the State Department. You got that, right?

In response to Wallace’s inquiry about whether the President takes personal responsibility for the denial of security requests in Benghazi, Axelrod said, “these were judgments that were made by security folks at the State Department.”

I was always taught that leaders give their team the credit when something goes right and to take the hit when something goes wrong. Funny how that is the exact OPPOSITE of the Obama Regime's pattern.

yep. He was right. The taliban is in the house. The muslim comander in chief is in the White House, skewing all outcomes to the favor of Islam. That is why Americans abroad cannot get support against islam.

The president is not an individual. The president is an office. If Obama and Biden didn't know something, then the office of the president did not know something -- which means the office is being poorly run by the individuals who are currently there.

The buck stops here? These guys don't have any sense of responsibility or accountability. Mistakes were made? [shrug] It's all good -- I'm completely ignorant and out-of-touch, so don't blame me!!

I think it is a lot more complicated than what the general American Public believe. Axelrod can throw Hillary under the bus and some might believe it.

But it appears Benghazi was really all about the CIA.

I am going to be watching what this former State employee has to say about it as time goes on

The question remains:

Will someone in Congress bring Petraeus to the table. The man who told Congress that the video was responsible for a protest.

Thump thump.... Hillary goes under bus.

How is General Petraeus responding to all of this flak?

Slightly off topic question, if I may.

I haven't seen or read anything about Amb. Stevens funeral. Has it occurred. Wouldn't the remains of an ambassador killed in the line of duty lie in state in the State dept? ASnyone know?

Somebody should send Obama the plaque Harry Truman had on his desk, “The Buck Stops Here”, and perhaps a framed copy of the letter Eisenhower wrote ahead of time in case D-Day was a fiasco for the Allies.

US Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, who was parroting the White House "spontaneous, unplanned" talking points, does NOT report to Hillary Clinton.

She reports directly to Obumbles, because it's a Cabinet-level position (under Democrap administrations):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Ambassador_to_the_United_Nations

Cabinet status

The Ambassador to the United Nations is not a member of the United States Cabinet, but the position is frequently accorded cabinet-level rank. It held this status through the Ford, Carter, and Reagan administrations but was removed from cabinet rank by George H.W. Bush, who had previously held the position himself. It was restored under the Clinton administration. It was not a cabinet-level position under the George W. Bush administration (from 2001 to 2009), but was once again elevated under the Obama administration. Former U.N. Ambassador John R. Bolton has publicly opposed the granting of cabinet-level status to the office, stating "One, it overstates the role and importance the U.N. should have in U.S. foreign policy, second, you shouldn't have two secretaries in the same department."

Whoops, Obumbles is responsible! Nice save for yourself, Hillary!

It’s pretty clear the story that state had correct intel but failed to act will be the official record. It’s also certain that the story dear leader missed his intel briefings will stand.

It makes you wonder, Petraeus being the genius he is found a way to cause dear leader some serious problems?

Too late, Assarod. America is not going to forget this.

It’s bad enough we have incompetents in the WH.

This is another insult in a long line of insults to America.

Is this one of those times when they kept the President out of the loop on purpose in case it blew up in their faces ..such as:

Good Lord, we have tens of thousands of weapons out there that could take down Israel or the US and be traced back to us.

What are we going to do.

Let’s make a deal.

You get the Blind Sheik, XYZ and the farm, we get the weapons.

We need cover.

Let’s stage a kidnapping for the American Public.

Yet another CIA whacko operation that goes wrong.

You have just succinctly defined the difference between leading and "Leading From Behind".

Axelrod was a total jerk this morning...just as jerky as Biden was in regard to the Libya Embassy attack.

Axelrod is a complete jerk, a total incompetent and a lying jack ass. Of course this also applies to everyone in the Obama administration.

“The Taliban is in the house”

It’s an absolutely perfect summary.

The RR campaign should sell T-Shirts with a pic of the White House and this quote underneath.
