Every time I fly with hubby WE both get pulled out for extra checks. If I am alone it never happens. I have to assume it is because he is a vet, Vietnam, Special Forces. I actually read somewhere once that it is a reason.

It is absurd to say “stop flying”. I live in Denver. The closest 2 “major” cities are Kansas City (600 miles) and Salt Lake City (500 miles). I have 2 children in NYC and 1 in DC. It is not possible to drive those distances.
The answer lies in reigning in these bozos. Getting rid of Big Sis will help.

Do you really think it makes sense for my husband to drive 3 days to the east coast for a conference and then 3 days back? It would cost more money and time and be more dangerous. This is a very big country and driving it is not practical. The train service isn’t any better either. We are blessed/ stuck with flying but that doesn’t mean we have to put up with what has been going on with the TSA.
I don't fly anymore because of it -- a lot of us don't. But passenger traffic continues to grow despite it. We are at the point where fewer and fewer remember what personal liberty means.
They've been brought up with intrusive demands from government and take it as normal.
