...what happened to "i" before "e" except after "c"? I do not see a "c" in foreign.

There are plenty of additional exceptions to the rule, the most famous of which is "or when sounding like 'a' as in 'neighbor' or 'weigh.'

In the case of 'foreign' it's because the 'ei' uses the ' /@/' sound as in 'bacon' and 'surfeit'.

Words that are an exception based on this rule include conscience, foreign, forfeit, prescient, sovereign, and surfeit.

Personally, I can’t wait for this debate. I love listening to the sensible plans and opinions put forth by Romney and Ryan. I look forward to it. I disregard Obama’s arrogance and combatant attitude. I really don’t give a hoot about anything he has to say. Let’s get on with it. In fact, if Obama says something blatantly untrue, I wish Romney would calmly say: “Mr President, you’re being childish. Take my time and explain the proof you have.” I want it over. I want to see what Obama is cooking up by way of shock and awe. I want to pass through all the portals early on so we can get it over with. I don’t care about polls. I know things. I know at least ten Democrat acquaintances will be voting for Romney because they think Obama is a racist. I don’t care why. I know that my grandchildren, university students, just registered. They and dozens of their classmates are voting Romney. They don’t have time to attend rallies. Nobody polled them. Bring it on!

You insist on being miserable, personally insulted and swarmed by conspiracy theories. Enjoy. I will not stand in your way.

Yes, McCain was the ideal candidate and he did everything in his power to save us from economic devastation and general decay.

“This is what happened in ‘80, a sudden switch. In the ‘80 debates, Reagan showed that he wasn’t the boogey man the Dems had painted him out to be;”

It sounds odd to hear that after freepers beat up on Romney all last year and well into this one. Now it seems that even most of them have made the switch. If true I will be as happy as anyone else.

Its not over until the fat moderator dissembles..
The next debate will be a rout.. count on it..
Its scripted and very probably rehearsed to the max..

Myth will get his ass handed to him on a presidential Logo plate..
IT simply MUST HAPPEN.. what a setup... an ambush..

i.e. KO, ambush , annihilation, beating, blow, break, breakdown, check, collapse, conquest, count, debacle, defeasance, destruction, discomfiture, downthrow, drubbing, embarrassment, extermination, failure, fall, insuccess, killing*, lacing, licking, loss, massacre, mastery, nonsuccess, paddling, rebuff, repulse, reverse, rout, ruin, scalping, setback, shellacking, slaughter, subjugation, thrashing, trap, trashing, trimming, triumph, trouncing, vanquishment, waxing, whaling, whipping, whitewashing...

Myth will be SCALPED...

If FreeRepublic had been around in 79 Reagen would have received a pretty good thrashing on here also.

OK, you make ridiculous extrapilations and have no reading comprehension either. That last comment you made comes from such a low IQ range, and has so many faulty assumptions built in, is so intellectually destitute, that I have lost 45 IQ points trying to have a discussion with you.

You are hopeless.

That’s the plan, but I don’t think it will work. The empty suit is still the empty suit. Or, perhaps, the empty chair is still the empty chair.

There is toothpaste out of the tube that they cannot put back in.

So, you’re saying McCain DID throw the election?

He was merely a pathetic candidate in the first place, elected by a lazy GOP electorate who was not aware (pre tea party) how awful he is. He didn’t have to “throw” it - he never had in him what was necessary to win it.

So, it looks like I wasn't just imagining being personally insulted. It must really be something to be such a superior intellectual being as yourself...and with all that grace and humility as well. Tsk tsk tsk.

He was merely a pathetic candidate in the first place...He didn’t have to “throw” it - he never had in him what was necessary to win it.

He gave up! He suspended his campaign to go do the wrong thing, and proceeded to tell us what a prince of a guy Obama was and how we wouldn't have to be afraid of him as president.

That is a widely held opinion here and hardly a "conspiracy theory".

Of course, you weren't "here" in 2008.

And just for the record: I've never made a single "extrapilation" in my life.

He might have given up, but he was done before that, because it was never “in” him to begin with.

And maybe you should try an extrapilation - also known as a conclusion or a deduction - because you sure as hell were way off on them. And if you think this forum, as much as I like it, is the end all be all of conversation - then you really are in an IQ vacuum....

Oh, you mean extrapolation. Oh sure...I do it all the time. Extrapolatin' here extrapolatin' there, especially with my trusty slide-rule.

As a famous wordsmith genius, you should have known that. Einstein.
