Parents are being advised to keep their children home from school on Oct. 30 if their local education officials are allowing the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Mix It Up” day to be held on campus.
The advisory comes from the pro-family American Family Association, because of the pro-homosexual message that is expected to be delivered during the events.
“The Southern Poverty Law Center is using this project to bully-push its gay agenda, and at the same time, intimidate and silence students who have a biblical view of homosexuality.”
“This is the same organization that launched hateful and malicious rhetoric toward the Family Research Council just prior to the august shooting of a security guard,” the AFA said.

From my outpost in Birmingham, AL, I haven't heard of any direct campaigns against Israel. I agree that it is in bed with the ACLU and the CPUSA. I have driven by the SPLC's HQ in Montgomery just a few blocks from the state house.
The main SPLC spokesman we see a lot on FOX News is Mark Potok, and he is ethnically Jewish. Morris Dees (a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church) and Joseph J. Levin Jr. (ethnically Jewish) co-founded the SPLC.
Fine By Me — This homosexual advocacy group distributes T-shirts reading "Gay? Fine by me" printed on the front. A 15 year-old girl in Hoover High School (suburb of Birmingham, AL), Sara Couvillon, wore 1 of these to school in AUG 2011 and caused a stir. After being told she could not wear it by school officials, the administration relented when publically threatened by the SPLC.

Another reason to home school. And if there should be such an entity as public schools, they should be 100% LOCALLY funded and LOCALLY controlled. As local as possible. Why is the Southern Poverty Law Center allowed to touch anything connected with schools or children? Does it get tax money, I'm sure it does. We need to take back our government.

So they want to appear to others to be “tolerant”, non-homophobic, etc. And the result? Their children are sacrificed.

The SPLC is a level 1 left wing group making money using the likes of Revs Jackson and Sharpton. The SPLC levels accusations of racism unjustly, branding as “bigoted” many groups and individuals whose only crime lies in their refusal to embrace the SPLC’s leftwing agenda. So I was wrong and owe an apology for misinformation suggesting that they took part of judgements.
That being said “Its fundraising appeals and accumulation of reserves have been subject to controversy.” - apparently mostly because their endowment is massive in comparison to most non-profit groups. Of course they also say that they expect the current way non-profit groups raise money to be done away with and that one day they will have only their endowment to use.
