Miners Accuse Team Obama of Lying in Ads
National Review Online ^ | October 15, 2012 | Greg Pollowitz

Back in August, the Left went bonkers over a story alleging that coal miners were forced by their employer to protest against President Obama. At the time,HuffPo, MotherJones, etc. all ran with that version of events.

Well, the miners have responded. Five hundred of them have written to the president asking him to stop lying in his campaign ads. Via The Intelligencer/Wheeling News-Register:

BEALLSVILLE – Coal miners at the American Energy Corp. Century Mine said they want President Barack Obama to stop what they term “the war on coal”–and to stop spreading “mistruths” about them.

Miners gathered Friday afternoon to express their opposition to Obama’s energy and environmental policies, which they believe threaten their jobs. Miner Mitch Miracle read aloud a letter the miners mailed to Obama that outlines some of their concerns.

The miners said Obama’s campaign team is running ads filled with “blatantly false” statements about the miners regarding their participation in Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s August campaign stop at the Century Mine. These ads assert that the miners were forced to attend the event by the mine’s owner,Robert Murray.

“There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event mostly started by a local ‘shock jock’ radio host,”the miners’ letter to Obama states. “Why would you (Obama) lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of the Century Mine would request you immediately stop these false ads.”

This summer, Murray Energy Corp.,parent company of the Beallsville mine, cut or relocated 56 workers with the closure of the Red Bird West mine near Brilliant. Murray also cut 29 mining jobs from The Ohio Valley Coal Co.’s Powhatan No. 6 Mine. All of this was done,Robert Murray said, because of Obama’s “war on coal.”

Al Gore has thrived as green-tech investor

".....Just before leaving public office in 2001, Gore reported assets of less than $2 million; today, his wealth is estimated at $100 million.

Gore charted this path by returning to his longtime passion — clean energy. He benefited from a powerful resume and a constellation of friends in the investment world and in Washington. And four years ago, his portfolio aligned smoothly with the agenda of an incoming administration and its plan to spend billions in stimulus funds on alternative energy.

....In last week’s presidential debate, Romney criticized the $90 billion that went to promote green technology, saying a number of businesses owned by Obama campaign contributors were winners.

....Gore, 63, divides most of his time now between his home in Nashville and a St. Regis tower apartment in San Francisco, where he can visit his West Coast investment partnership and see his new girlfriend, an environmental activist. (He and his wife of 40 years, Tipper, separated two years ago. She lives in the $8.9 million mansion they bought in 2010 outside Santa Barbara.)

....Gore had won a Nobel Prize and Oscar for his 2006 book and movie, “An Inconvenient Truth.” Supporters had begun hailing him as the single most effective spokesman on the threat of climate change. With his prize winnings, Gore created the Alliance for Climate Protection, an advocacy group that ran ads warning of looming climate change. In the process, he gained high-placed admirers and business associates in Silicon Valley.

Gore entered the investment world full time by co-founding Generation Investment Management [GIM], a London-based investment firm. He was the type of high-profile partner sought by Goldman Sachs executive David Blood, who had headed Goldman’s $325 billion asset management division and was looking to start a new firm. The pair launched GIM in 2004 to back companies focused on sustainability, including clean energy, water scarcity and poverty....

....Gore also found himself to be a sought-after star among elite Silicon Valley investors. In late 2007, he became a senior investment partner at one of the world’s most successful venture capital firms, Kleiner Perkins. He was combining forces with longtime friend John Doerr in a joint mission to spur clean tech.........

As Obama was preparing to take office, it was clear his public agenda supporting clean energy aligned with Gore’s personal agenda. Obama held a highly publicized meeting with Gore at transition headquarters in Chicago to talk about energy policy. Later, Obama closely echoed several of Gore’s talking points and his plan for public investment in clean energy. Obama even adopted Gore’s campaign catchphrase for the effort, “Repower America.”

“This is a matter of urgency and national security,” Obama said. “We have the opportunity now to create jobs all across this country in all 50 states to repower America, to redesign how we use energy and . . . make us competitive for decades to come — even as we save the planet.”.....

Gore’s investments coincided with the government’s largest investment in clean tech. A full 10 percent, estimated at $80 billion to $90 billion, of the 2009 stimulus package was devoted to clean energy.......

....Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), who chairs the Energy and Commerce Committee and is a leading critic of clean tech funding, said Gore’s portfolio “is reflective of a disturbing pattern that those closest to the president have been rewarded with billions of taxpayer dollars . . . and benefited from the administration’s green bonanza in the rush to spend stimulus cash.”......."More

There is NO coal miner out there who has not contributed much, much, MUCH more to the American economy than has the Obamadork, the academic nothing, the cheater, the liar, the Cretin-in-Chief.

So, hail to you, coal miners.

And h*ll to you, Obamadork.

The first time I saw the Obama commercial in response to the Romney Coal Ad, I knew it was a lie.
Mitt is just a citizen. How could he force a bunch of coal miners to go to a rally. Sounded a little too much like something the Obama people would do. Similar to busing college students from all over NC, and SC so he would have people to hear his acceptance speech at the convention.
I was at Romney’s speech in Portsmouth OH this weekend, and there was plenty of enthusiasm, and excitement, and no one was forced to be there except the media.

I don’t think anyone is running against Manchin this time. He’s got a 6 year free ride.

Oh it absolutely is. He is still running these “good ‘ol boy” ads, claiming he killed “Cap & Trade”, and his wife still cuts his hair.
He voted with Obama 95% of the time. Blech!
I hate politicians like him, socialist scum in office, and when he comes home he puts on the fake Southern accent, and gets photographed holding a rifle. What a duplicitous a$$hole!

That’s why we need term limits: one six year term for the Senate and two-year terms for the House. Re-election is the primary source of the systemic corruption at the federal, state and local levels. And the grants, loans, bailouts, and tax credits that go to their buddies distorts our whole economy.

The professional political class must be eliminated.
