Judging by word coming from the Obama campaign, Tuesday night's second presidential debate at Hofstra University could be the greatest do-over in history. The president has been scrutinizing Mitt Romney's every word from the first debate in Denver, and now, nearly two weeks later, he has his answers ready to go.
Early Monday morning, on the eve of Debate Two, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina sent out a long memo to reporters headlined "The Real Romney, Translated." The memo focused on nine statements Romney made during the first debate, plus a few from running mate Paul Ryan in the vice presidential debate. After each statement, Messina offered "translations" explaining what the GOP candidates really meant.
For example, quoting Romney's vow that he "will not, under any circumstances, raise taxes on middle-income families," Messina made the case that Romney will simply have to do so to pay for his tax-cut proposal. Quoting Romney's promise to "bring people together and get the job done," Messina argued Romney never did that as governor of Massachusetts. And quoting Romney's statement that "I love great schools," Messina attacked Romney's education proposals.
The memo was, in other words, a 2,800-word manifesto of what Barack Obama should have said at the first debate.
Besides his coulda-woulda-shoulda strategy, the president also plans, apparently, to attack Romney for appearing moderate at the first debate. "Mitt Romney will say and do anything, regardless of whether it's true, to become president," Obama campaign spokesman Jen Psaki told reporters Monday morning. "And no doubt over the last couple of days while he's been practicing and preparing for the debate, he spent time memorizing deceptions and ways to hide from his 'severely conservative' positions." The president, Psaki said, will call Romney on it.

Risky strategy, IMHO.
Going nuclear on Mitt risks retaliation in kind.
And I know in my dead certain gut that if Obama reaches for a nuke, Mitt has a bigger one.
Obama is confused, and they want to make it more complicated?
“And no doubt over the last couple of days while Obama’s been practicing and preparing for the debate, he spent time memorizing deceptions and ways to hide from his ‘severely Liberal’ positions.” “Romney, Psaki said, will call
Obama on it”.
There fixed it.
I hate to say it, but I think if 0bama pulls that street punk sh*t I would be surprised if Romney retaliated.
“Obama is confused, and they want to make it more complicated?”
My reaction too....he has so much stuffed into his head as to what he is supposed to say to counter something that he will not be able to process it and freeze? I’ve seen it a few times, and have even experienced it myself.
“Risky strategy, IMHO.”
It sure is.
And the Dems would have to be colossally stupid to think Mitt doesn’t have answers for the charges they might hit him with.
Mitt’s preparing too — he’s not just going to show up and hope for the best.
Also, you’re answering town hall questions here. It’s tough to vociferously attack your opponent when you’re supposed to be talking to the person who asked the question. How much are Romney and Obama actually going to talk directly TO each other? My guess is not much, just because of the format. Ignoring the questioner and talking to your opponent instead makes you look bad. The format is going to automatically blunt the effecta of some attacks anyway.
Mitt needs to laugh loudly and appropriately unlike the grinning baboon.

Will they unleash the angry black man?
R&R are 2-0 in the debates. They have a strategy and a brilliant preparation team and process. I just read the article on how Ryan and Olsen practiced for a week for Biden’s over the top mannerisms. I suspect they have several scenarios planned, not knowing how Obama will go about things.
I am very confident. The race has had the first major shift and it is R&R’s direction.
LoL, that is exactly right.
That boy is in way over his head as it is, stop pouring water into the pool.
And see how the dumbass responds.
Good points and in that format Romney has the advantage. He LOOKS secure whereas The Disaster looks like a shifty crook.
When people ask themselves which one do I believe? It ain’t going to be Shifty.
“Mr. President, please stop putting words in my mouth — perhaps you should take some etiquette lessons from your vice president.”
What will be a surprise is if FR doesn't grind itself to another relative standstill :-\
he already won, there is no reason to even debate, the media just needs to report what the regime wants..
byron loves him some obamafag.
LLS
All that is true and they are not going to be asked the same questions either so all that prep will be wasted. Whereas Mitt does not have to be concerned about questions, this administration is dead in the water and incompetent on all fronts. He can’t swing enough times to hit all these low hanging fruits.
He can just marshal facts.
“The president has been scrutinizing Mitt Romney’s every word from the first debate in Denver, and now, nearly two weeks later, he has his answers ready to go. “
Yeah, just as I was leaving work, it came to me...”well, the JERKSTORE called, and they’re looking for YOU!”
This should work out just great. You go zero, but I just don’t think the jerkstore line will fly.
“I must break you...”
Obama debate agenda: Threaten rioting and/or civil war. Brazenly lie. Throw the entire nation under the bus.
Romney debate agenda: Advocate peace and unification. Just tell the truth. Throw Congress and Federal Agency heads under the bus.
Unless CNN gives them the questions in advance...
Only half-joking.
Attack dog does not come across well in that format. Obama will be terrible if he does that.
His only option inho is to be honest, admit maistakes and failures, but pomise that he learned from those mistakes and will be more moderate and focused.
He has nothing left ihmo
Ha, ChoomBama is lost without the TOTUS.
“His only option inho is to be honest, admit maistakes and failures, but pomise that he learned from those mistakes and will be more moderate and focused.”
Sounds just like his pathetic closing statement in the first debate.
He has nothing else, as pathetic as it is
He has an Obama supporter picking the questions that will be asked of the candidates. The only thing we won’t know is if Obama has been sent a list of the questions ahead of time.
I don’t know why Rush thought this essay so remarkable. (?)
Brains and experience count. Mitt did not get to be a millionaire many times over by being slow and stupid. If there is one thing I am sure about, he has wargamed this debate forward and backwards from every possible scenario and has answers to match.
Having said that, this is really the time to close the deal. America wants to buy, he wants to sell, as long as he comes through tomorrow with grace, humor and style, he wins.

Half of the ugly dogs at my dog park are named Rocky. The other half are, if you haven’t guessed by now, Elvis.
