Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic hopeful in a hotly contested Massachusetts race, was the top fundraiser among US Senate candidates in the third quarter with $12.1 million, according to reports from candidates on Monday.

Monday was the deadline for political campaigns to file their fund-raising reports with the Federal Election Commission for the quarter ended September 30.

Warren is in a tight race with Republican incumbent Senator Scott Brown, one of about a dozen contests nationally that will determine whether Democrats keep majority control of the Senate. Republicans need a net gain of at least four seats to take the majority.

And stupid Scott Brown walked right into her trap, back in the summer Warren convinced Brown to sign onto a pledge not to accept help from outside groups and run the campaign on only the money they could raise. What Brown did was essentially through out all the conservative “tea party” assistance that won him the election in 2009, while Warren's labor backers simply ignored the pledge and campaigned for her anyway, not to mention her fund raising advantage by not screening out “illegal” donations.

How many conservatives would still support Brown anyway? They may vote for him in the election but I couldn’t see the Tea Party, or people who think like the Tea Party, wasting any more money on him.

Actually it sounds exactly like I posted. They will hold their noses and vote Elizabeth Warren out, not Scott Brown in. No mention at all of any financial support vs almost $350k the last election.

Trust me, Brown on a bad day is vastly preferrable to Warren on good day. Brown, for instance, when asked to give an example of a Supreme Court judge he admired gave Antoin Scalia. Would you rather have more judges like Scalia or Sotomeier?

Would you rather the Senate Majority leader be Harry Ried or Mitch McConnell? (Okay, McConnell, like Brown can disappoint, but he would be vastly preferrable.) I think Brown’s instincts are conservative, but he seems to feel that he needs to equivocate to maintain viability in Massachusetts, and he may be right.

I'm sure he is. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins had their moments also. Brown also backpedaled on Scalia during the debate so as not to offend his more liberal base. You really think he won't throw you under the bus in order to hang on to his power and perks?

My read on Brown is that he is sincere, and more conservative than he talks. He trims a lot to remain viable in Massachusetts. Typically, a politician will cleave to what he preceives to be the postion just to the middle of his opponents. Mizzy Lizzy has already staked out a hardcore moonbat position, so in almost any other state there would be a lot of room to her left. Brown has run as Republican in Massachusetts for the last 20 years, so he must have some principles. He is no Arlen Spector.

Would you perfer to have Harry Reid running the Senate for the next four years?
