Clinton's Excuse: 'Fog of War' to Blame for Misinformation from Susan Rice on Libya
Weekly Standard ^ | OCT 15, 2012 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 10/16/2012 7:30:08 AM PDT by Qbert

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the reason the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, gave misinformation to the American people is because of the "fog of war." According to the notes of Wendell Goler of Fox News, here's what Clinton had to say:

On Rice ‘grew out of a protest’ assertions: “the fog of war. The confusion you get in any type of combat situation. Remember this was an attack that went on for hours…there had to be a lot of sorting out…everyone said here’s what we know subject to change.”

Clinton's excuse for Rice is because the U.N. ambassador went on five Sunday talk shows and said in several different ways that the deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya "grew out of a protest" outside the American consulate there.

That is not at all what happened. Apparently the fog of war was too thick for Rice to accurately say what happened there. In fact, the State Department now says there was no protest at all outside the consulate there.

Instead, the attack that killed the American ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, and three other Americans was the direct result of a planned and coordinated al Qaeda terrorist attack that was aimed at coinciding with the anniversary of the greatest al Qaeda attack again America in history, 9/11.

The attack took place five days before Rice went on those shows and made those false assertions. But only now is the fog beginning to clear.

Clinton also said today that "the buck stops with her," according to CNN.

Well, now that's believable! (/sarc). Hey, Hillary, if you don't mind then, can we have our First Amendment rights back? Pretty please?...

LOL! I hate that.

You wake up at 3:00 in the morning a month after the fact with a great response.

“Fog of war”? “Combat situations”? Funny, I thought the administration didn’t want to send more security in an effort to “normalize”. Isn’t THAT the new meme?

They sent more Marines in to protect the embassies in places like Barbados, but couldn’t see fit to outfit embassies in places like THE MIDDLE EAST on the anniversary of 9-11.

The biggest mistake, as I see it, is that these cheesy leftists think WE are as stupid as their VOTERS are, or that THEY are.

Fog of war?

Weak. Laughable, even.

This whole delaying routine is outrageous.

Can the president of the country not get answers when he wants them? Give me a break.

Instead of the Dog Days of Ware we now have the Fog Days of War - let’s not tell our troops that their commander in chief et al are in the fog days.

The newest spin, now coming from the Libyan government, is that the attackers were indeed motivated by the video. And just, spur of the moment just decided to mount his attack. Yep. Get the word out.Be sure to bring your rpg laucher from the back room and mount this assault. No known ties with Al Qaeda. Holy moley. Anything to save their own sorry asses.

Without meaning to do so, it looks to me that Hillary! is admitting that womyn just aren’t up to the job; her, Rice, and Jarrett are out of their league and they know it.

Womyn are by definition lazy, selfish and stupid.

Real women like Margaret Thatcher, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, et. al., would have been on top of the situation from the git-go and never would have let this happen. Yes, the good Ambassador would be alive and well today.

Didn't someone at the hearing state there was realtime video of the consulate attack?

In addition to the footage from the consulate cameras, the U.S. government is also poring over video taken from an overhead U.S. surveillance drone that arrived for the final hour of the night battle at the consulate compound and nearby annex.
