Barack Obama is preparing to fly to New York from his Virginia retreat for the second presidential debate against Mitt Romney, in which the president has to put in a strong performance if he is going to halt Romney's poll momentum.
Obama's mission has been given added urgency by a new poll showing his lead cut to just four points in Pennsylvania, traditionally a Democratic-leaning state.
Obama's task is a difficult one, given that the debate format is town-hall style in which questions come from the audience, meaning the president and Romney have to devote at least some of the 90 minutes to answering questions civilly, rather than in direct confrontation.
It is harder, too, for Obama to make the same impact as Romney did in Denver on October 3 as second debates usually attract fewer viewers than the first.

Trying to get Barry climatized for tonight’s debate. I don’t think that it was a good idea to fly him in. We know what happens when Barry goes up to those high altitudes.

I hope Romney has taken a rabies shot.
Empathy for the questioner, the candidate that shows that, wins. All else is just noise tonight. Stay focused on the question and the person asking it. Look at them, not Obama when answering. Say what you will do. This is not attack-style debate. Do not wander around the stage like old man McCain.
Town Hall format, Candy Crowley and now Long Island. Romney will be in very hostile territory. But he’ll win.
Stop worrying, democrats. Altitude is 6 feet above sea level, so he’ll do fine.
What Obama has going against him is that he has no academic record and possibly very mediocre grades. At least we don’t think he has a record because he is hiding everything. Romney on the other hand is an open book. The comments after a Guardian article are always the best part. I think I live in an alternative universe when I see comments like “the media is protecting Romney” and “all Obama has to do is explain his position on abortion vs. Romney’s position on abortion and that will sink Romney.”

Who paid for Obama’s room(s) and meals at the King's Mill Resort for the last four days. There is no way this activity could be construed as “official”. Just ask the resort... “who were you instructed to bill for this event?”
Why can’t youtube release the first twenty IP addresses of those who accessed the video since there were so few until the murder of our ambassador?
Seems the Cairo embassy recieved a tweet asking about the video on September 9, 2012 and the embassy responded, “What video?” So they were only made aware of the video two days before the murder of our ambassador.
So, in an ‘ah ha’ moment, someone could say, well, here is a video we can pin Ambassador Chris Steven’s murder on since we know how unhinged muslims are and we can just blame the video.

The above is a masterpiece of understatement. Hofstra U is Liberal, and has quite a Jewish population on faculty, not to mention the sad fact that far too many of my co-religionists are communism infected and have become the but of countless jokes about “LongGiiland”.
Perhaps a more descriptive phrase than “very hostile territory” is “in the Belly of the Beast”.
