Once again the United States needs to overcome serious problems, but much of the thinking and writing about the American future reflects a stubborn undervaluation of the country’s resilience, fundamental strengths, and ability to overcome adversity.

Ironically, while much of the current focus has been on the impact of financial and economic crises, a lagging recovery, serious problems of debt and deficit, and competition with a dynamic and rising China, the United States actually continues to possess far greater material strengths than commonly assumed. In any case, decline is not destined by some ineluctable cycle of history. Instead, America’s future is a matter of will and willpower, in the sense of crucial choices to be made about policy and strategy. Willpower in particular involves leadership and well-informed decision making. If the right choices are made in the years ahead, the robustness of American society coupled with its unique capacities for adaptation and adjustment should once again prove decisive.

The author states:
If the right choices are made in the years ahead, the robustness of American society coupled with its unique capacities for adaptation and adjustment should once again prove decisive. Matter of choices, fate can mean the same thing. Fate is the outcome of making choices. Even taking into consideration all of the overwhelming attributes, assets the author asserts will provide America reason and purpose to maintain the status as global super power it has enjoyed since World War II, there is one single aspect in the matter of choices that will absolutely, indubitably seal our fate.

The author astutely qualifies his commentary by saying if the right choices are made in the years ahead...... In terms of making choices I won't be as ambiguous, non-specific as the author seems to be and say it straight, unqualified as it is so palpably real. Make the wrong choice come election day, and none of what the author has to say about America and its auspicious future will come to pass. Despite all of its overwhelmingly fundamental strengths the author sings the praises of, America will not survive the re-election of Barack Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama

The notion of American decline, although now pervasive, is not entirely new.

Learn the actual, ugly truth about Muslim Demographics and what it means to you and me.

” Despite all of its overwhelmingly fundamental strengths the author sings the praises of, America will not survive the re-election of Barack Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama “

I will take your one sentence, over this verbose tiresome scholar.

Exactly. If Boy Zer0 is reelected, this country is on an irreversible downward trajectory. There will be no recovery. If Romney wins, we still have somewhat of a fighting chance.

The USA is not the nation intended by the Founders. The drink and fruit of that political organism has been diluted/weakened since the 1960s by unintended(?) consequences of multi foreign immigration for various reasons. This immigration was outside of and beyond reasonable previous limitations. It was as if to make the ‘Lady of Liberty’ matron of an orphans home for all the worlds downtrodden masses. Along with the truly needed came all kinds of shysters. I believe the Islamization of the USA, as in Europe, is a certain example of what the Founders intended to prevent by having rules/quotas for immigrants. In case anyone wonders where I fit in I will say my parents were legal immigrants and my only sibling brother died on Okinawa and I served overseas though neither of us could be eligible for POTUSA.
