Analysis: Obama regains his footing in feisty second debate

President Barack Obama put his re-election bid back on firm footing on Tuesday night with a strong debate performance that is likely to thrill his Democratic supporters and earn him a second look from the few voters who remain undecided.

Obama made the most of it with a focused, aggressive effort. It was a sharp departure from his listless first debate two weeks ago, when Romney's dominant performance ignited a resurgence by the Republican that left the race virtually even heading into Tuesday's matchup.

Romney's performance probably did not hurt his chances of winning the White House, analysts said. But Obama probably boosted his odds by turning in the focused, aggressive performance that his supporters had hoped to see in the first debate.

"They're thinking, 'We're back in the ball game,' " said Robert Lehrman, a former speech writer for Democratic vice president Al Gore who now teaches at American University.

"It wasn't that Romney got worse - Obama got a lot better."

The only true measure of winning is who picked up undecided voters. I guess there will be a poll on that later today. Anyone taking bets?

Worry, Reuters, but your guy is a cretin.

Really.

If the communists American voters cannot figure who King Obama is and that he threw America under the bus then all is lost. Cannot believe how ignorant many Americans have become. Still singing praise to his majesty the King Of America.

How much you want to be this story was already written before the debate? All the reporter had to do was plug in a couple examples from the debate and send it to the editor...

The only difference I saw from the last debate was Obama’s full unleashing of his frustration and anger over the growing presence of one huge elephant in the room: he cannot run on his record, he can only demonize Romney.

Do you Obama voters really not understand what he is doing to you? During his first 4 years, he borrowed and spent every income tax dollar the IRS will ever collect from you, our children, and their children too. And now he’s handing you the overdue credit card bill. Well, those of us who still pay or will pay income tax.

Do you Obama voters really believe this nation that cannot afford doctors, hospitals, and medicines, can somehow afford those same doctors, hospitals, and medicines after their being taken over by a huge government bureaucracy? Do you really think you will get proper care from medical facilities that are to be rewarded for cutting the expense of YOUR care?

Do you not realize the TRUE unemployment rate in this country stands at around 22%?

Good God, how can anyone be so stupid as to vote this #$%$-clown back into office for even more of these crippling policies on top of the damage he’s already done?

Romney won big on the big issues. The people who matter, the voters, saw this plain as day. Just look at the Fox, CNN and MSNBC post-debate focus groups — all on the same page: Romney is better on the topics that matter most.

Frank Luntz’ focus group (Vegas undecideds) thought Romney was more Presidential, and declared Romney the winner. Only 4 or so participants will vote for Obama.

You got to love Yahoo this morning.

Big headline: Obama wins debate (despite both CBS and CNN polls showing slight edge to Obama, with Romney winning big on economy).

Yet after Romney’s historic win, no declaration of Romney win, just a headline that read: “Was the truth told at debate?”

The media is so corrupt.

I think it’s simple. Folks are just tired of Obama.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. After the first debate where Obambi was lost in space, this is all semantics now.

The presidents record sucks.

Gas is through the roof.

So many people are out of work, and the 'encouraging' numbers that the MSM spins every day aren't putting people back to work.

The bloom is off the rose, and it isn't growing back.

President Barack Obama put his re-election bid back on firm footing on Tuesday night with a strong debate performance that is likely to thrill his Democratic supporters and earn him a second look from the few voters who remain undecided.

This very first sentence exposes just how blatant the lamestream media cheerleading for 0bama has become.

It's laughable media bias, and most aware Americans see right through such transparent propaganda at this juncture in the history of media.

At some point, such obvious spin is going to backfire in the faces of those who are trying to prop up this failed President.

The lamestream media is absolutely ludicrous nowadays. Absurd. Pathetic. Ridiculous. Shameful. Treasonous, even.
