“The future of California’s education system will be decided Nov. 6, when voters consider two dueling propositions that would raise taxes to support public schools.”

Wasn't the lottery supposed to ensure educational funding in CA forever?

It is a mess in California, and I don’t believe it is going to be solved by public referendums unfortunately. Any referendum that temporarily reverses the trend is likely to be reversed by the courts. And sorry to say, I have voted on these issues for the last time, and I have voted with my feet. I am a third generation native Californian, and my wife and I moved to Texas last spring, and I will never move back to California. Both of my children are California natives as well, both raised and educated in California, and both are productive citizens with families who left California years before I did and also will never move back. Sorry I can’t help with my vote anymore, but I wish you the best on Nov. 6!

It is a mess here and it’s made worse by folks who have left, leaving us with an even more Leftist body of people.

I’m not trying to give you a hard time. I don’t blame you. I know I could find a place in the U. S. that was better.

My take on it is that we are one Ronald Reagan away from getting things back on track in the state.

There are values shared by all citizens, that go unaddressed by our Republican leaders in the state. Until they are, things will continue to go down hill. When they are, we’ll be shocked by the marked improvement.

Take care. Good luck to your family...

BTW: I’m a third generation Californian myself, and there are fifth generation family members here now.

I should amend one comment I made. As for a better place, when California is right side up, it’s the most amazing state we have.

There are very few places in the world, that aren’t geographically represented within the state.

It’s natural resources are truly amazing. Even it’s potential for creativity and productivity have been proven to be remarkable.

That’s not to deny that California has been mismanaged to the point of self-destruction.

It’s all very sad really.

But, you still owe CA a lot of money for education - just send it in from Texas! /sarc

You’re right on every California proposition.

Strange to see so many differences from this crowd. Most common error seems to be that many would vote yes on 31.

I almost agree with you, I believe the US as a whole is one Ronald Reagan away from getting back on track, but I think California is in a little deeper trouble than the rest of the US. Our country is about to throw Barack Obama and his lot out, and make a start in the Ronald Reagan direction I think. But California still prefers leaders like Obama and Jerry Brown by a huge margin still. If I thought California could do what Wisconsin did I might have stayed to fight. But I am afraid California is way beyond that. And at age 60, I just don’t see California turning around in my remaining lifetime, although I think it probably will eventually. I have a lot higher hopes that our country as a whole is going to turn around sooner though. As a place to live California is the best state in the union, not even close in my opinion. It is very sad what liberal government has done to it.

If nothing else goes my way I hope 32 passes. The unions have been flooding the air with their lies opposing it.

Actually, although I left California last spring I was not able to find a sucker to buy my house, so I had to rent it out. I have a property tax bill for it sitting on my desk as I type, so technically I am STILL paying for my California education! And the funny thing is, the education that I got that has done me the most good in my life I got for free, mostly from Rush Limbaugh!

I see a lot of Yes on 32 here. I'd vote yes if it just stopped unions from taking money out of people's paychecks. However, I can not vote for it because it does not allow corporation to contribute to campaigns. That's wrong.

Someone help me with the logic...

My default position is no on all.
I will be voting yes on 32 and 40.

I understand your thoughts on this. I’m 61 this year.

Take care.

Well, it looks like 31 may be a stinker, also - to bad the CA Republican supported it as that support lead to my YES vote - just damn.

It’s really sort of amusing that also all props are deserving of a NO vote, but perhaps they are offered by liberals.
