A Mississippi man flying to visit his wife in Japan on Monday was detained during a stop in Hawaii and has been barred from reboarding his flight - or any other flight - because his name came up on the U.S. No-Fly List, leaving him stranded on the island. Gulfport resident Wade Hicks, Jr., boarded a military jet at Travis Air Force Base in San Francisco so he could spend time with his newlywed wife, a U.S. Navy lieutenant stationed in Okinawa, Japan, the Canada Free Press reports.

I got a name for the no-fly list: Obama.

Unless he flies away and promises not to come back.

Anyone else see the unconstitutional mess this is? I mean, denying the right to travel based on guilt without due process.

There is only one reason to put a US citizen on a “no-fly” list, and that is if there is reason to believe he will be a threat to the flight crew or passengers.

He managed to get over there, apparently without incident. They don't mention him causing any trouble aboard the flight. If they are going to stop him from traveling to Japan by military flight they ought at least to have returned him to his point of departure.

Barring him from military craft is one thing. Barring him from civilian flights is something else again. If he is like a lot of people, he may not have money for hotels and meals while he figures out a solution.

He should get a very aggressive lawyer.

I put myself on the "No Fly List" in 1992.

Way too much B.S.

FTA:
“I am a very vocal opponent of 9/11. I’ve seen the evidence, and I think the evidence I’ve seen warrants a new investigation, and I’m very vocal about it as well,” he added.

BINGO! That’s why.

my guess is he caught a mac flight on a military plane to Hawaii then from Hawaii it was a chartered military flight on a commercial line to Japan. I would imagine that the squadron commander would have the ability to approve a flight for him back stateside.

What an expensive place to be stuck. You would think if he were on the no fly list, then he would have been flagged before he made it all the way to Japan and half-way back.

Sure, for $15,000. That’s more than my annual income. He got over there on a military charter flight. Hopefully they will return him home on a similar flight.

I run an aircraft charter operation.
We use the same no fly list. Except, if the aircraft has a gross take off weight of less than 12,500 pounds, we don’t have to check passengers against the no fly list.
So yes, he could charter, but coming out of Hawaii he’s going to need a large private jet, like a Gulfstream, (about $6,000 per flight hour) which is well over 12,500 pounds.
