West Wing Report via Twitter ^ | 7:05 p.m. EDT Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Posted on 10/17/2012 7:04:26 PM PDT by kristinn

Major change to Univ. of Va's Ctr. for Politics (WWR's partner) electoral count: For first time, Pres. no longer has 270 safe/likely votes

Univ. of Virginia Ctr. for Politics now says President has just 267 safe/likely electoral votes - three short of needed 270. Romney: 235

UVA Ctr. for Politics has now moved Wisconsin (10 electoral votes) from leans Dem. to toss up. President's lead down to one point

New electoral college count: Obama 267, Romney 235 and 36 toss ups (Colo., New Hamp., Va. & Wisc.) from UVA Ctr. for Politics

UVA also notes the growing possibility of an electoral college tie: 269-269. If this happens, election is decided by GOP-dominated House

...where Romney simply says to 0bama, “We wouldn’t STILL be talking about this if you hadn’t COVERED-UP WHAT HAPPENED THERE FROM THE GET-GO. NO ONE believes the shooting at Ft. Hood was “workplace violence” as you say it was and NO ONE was believing your narrative that a YouTube movie caused a protest at Benghazi!”

If that number drops too far below 270, Obama will declare martial law (in order to save the country from the millionaires, billionaires and corporate jet owners).

Not to worry.. it will likely be election-2000 close and the Rat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party -- notorious for these same shenanigans for a 100+ years.. but at least the Party was not anti-America) knows that some states to not mandate that Electoral College members vote for whom they were elected to represent in the College. It just takes a little background checking on those people to push their guy over 270. RNC Accuses Gore of Tampering with Electors

The Democrat Electoral College tampering is being led by Bob Beckel

Al Gore is attempting to reverse the outcome of the election by any means necessary. That includes tampering with the Electoral College itself. Democrat operatives have begun clandestine background checks on Republican electors already certified from the 29 states George W. Bush won on November 7. They are looking for ways to persuade – or intimidate – Republican electors into changing their votes . . . a shift of three [Electoral votes] would give Al Gore a majority – and there are people in Gore's camp who seem to think private investigators can sway enough votes to win . . . a Wall Street Journal report on the Democrats' undercover assault on Republican electors [by Wall Street Journal's Glenn Simpson, Tom Hamburger, and Laurie Cohen says "One battle-tested Democratic consultant has even begun a quiet intelligence-gathering operation that could aid a last-ditch Gore strategy in the Electoral College. Bob Beckel . . . has been checking into the background of Republican electors, with an eye toward persuading a handful of them to vote for Mr. Gore . . . 'It is information gathering on my part, using my own network,' Mr. Beckel said, confirming an operation he set in motion days after the Nov. 7 election. 'I call on mostly Democrats, but some Republicans, too, and ask, 'Who are these electors, and what do you know about them?' I just wanted to know who these electors are.' Mr. Beckel, who owns a political-analysis business based in Arlington, Va., said he is working independently, 'on an ad-hoc basis,' and hasn't yet contacted any electors directly. 'I wouldn't do that without first informing the Gore campaign,' he said. The Gore camp itself has disavowed any intention of seeking to sway GOP electors.]

I believe it is, I have no doubt Romney will WIN and BIG.

The presidential race is OVER...and Romney is going to win 55/45-or-so.

Time to roll out the coattails -- and bring a strong majority of Republican Senators into office, as well.

Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Missouri, Florida, Montana, even Connecticut are part of this now...

I have some doubts, but they have been diminishing with each passing day. My doubts center on a certain demographic: those who pay little attention to news or politics but still vote. They lean toward Obama. I've told more than one of them not to forget to vote on November 9th.

Heard Paul Rothsein (Professor at Georgetown) say that we have never been as close to seeing an electoral college tie as this election. Should that come to pass, the House would declare Romney President however the Senate would declare Biden VP. The possibility of that is giving me the heebie jeebies.

It will not be close, bank on it. Even if it is and Biden ends up veep, SFW? He is a pathetic idiot and Romney would just assign him tasks commensurate with his abilities. Like scooping up dog poop on the White House lawn.

OKIE, I am getting ready to chill that bottle of champagne I bought in 2008. Had to stash it, hope it's still good, I am not an expert on wines.

Victory, free at last.

Nov 9th. rofl. I'll bet they believe you, kinda like the Kimmel video that was posted this evening, asking the stret people how they liked the Debate that had not happened yet? so funny, in fact they said it was good, and Obama won.

I have Faith, and not the spirit of doubt, otherwise my Faith is voided.

If you left the champagne on its side, so that the cork remained wet (and swollen), it should be fine.

Salut!

Let me guess, the reason The Disaster is even close to 270 is because they are giving him Ohio, Michigan, Penn. He may very well lose all three.

If there’s an electoral college tie, then the House picks the president, with each state getting one vote. Congressmen do not vote as individuals.

The Senate would pick the vice-president, with each Senator voting individually.

The new House and Senate elected in Nov. 2012 would do the voting if this comes to pass. So, if Republicans can capture the Senate, then Biden would not be elected VP. And if Republicans capture at least 26 state delegations in the House, then they would pick Romney.

The liberals will claim the above is unfair but that’s how the constitution settles a case in which no candidate has an electoral college majority.

Oh, I know. This 4 year nightmare is quite a thorn in my side. Sleep like a baby, knowing an ADULT is back in charge.

Will this ever happen again? I still can wrap my head around how it happened in the first place.

The people that voted for him are the same type that would invest with Bernie Madoff after working all their lives and apparently SMART enough to earn that money, but to dumb to not remember "if it sounds to good to be true, it isn't".

I don't feel one bit sorry for them, and I despise the Obama voter, despise is a mild word here for what I am really thinking. They pooped on us, themselves and this nation 4 years ago, and they are to BLAME for it all.

Thanks for filling in the blank as to which members of congress (old or newly elected) vote.

Just because there's a tie on Election Day doesn't necessarily mean a tie in the Electoral College - electors have been known to change how they'll vote.

Expect LOTS of attempted skullduggery by the Dems if that happens.

Consider the source, a university “professor.” This jerk probably doesn’t have the intellect to take a bent dime out of a Coke machine!
My long dead father used to say that a college professor was a $5,000 a year man who thinks he can show you how to make $10,000. The math is from the 50’s but the concept is the same.
