WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 7.3% in mid-October, down considerably from 7.9% at the end of September and at a new low since Gallup began collecting employment data in January 2010. Gallup's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 7.7%, also down from September. October's adjusted mid-month measure is also more than a percentage point lower than October 2011.

This does not count the millions who have given up looking for work.

This is great news about the unemployment numbers. Now all we need to do is start getting people jobs so they can go back to work.

When did Gallup become the arbiter of the unemployment rate - I thought it was the government Bureau of Labor Statistics or something.

ObamaCare could cause a hiring boom, because employers will cut hours for many full time workers down to part time. But when they cut hours, they will need to hire more part time workers to fill the hours lost by others.

If it’s really dropping, it’s in anticipation of a President Romney landslide. Barry Hussein Obama (mmm mmm mmm)’s incompetocracy is breathtaking.

Didn’t the Obama administration threaten Gallup recently?

"U.S. unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 7.3% in mid-October, down considerably from 7.9% at the end of September and at a new low since Gallup began collecting employment data in January 2010."

If we're to believe this (which we're not), Gallup is claiming that unemployment fell an astonishing six tenths of one percent in just two weeks.

Watch and see if Gallup doesn't find that the unemployment number magically falls another four tenths of a percent just in time to save Barky's ass before election day.

Sorry Gallup, but it won't work. Every American who's been paying attention knows that unemployment has been over 8% for the last 43 months. It's not "unexpectedly" falling right before the election, and everyone except the ill-informed Kool-Aid drinkers on the left knows it.

In 2016 the UNemployment rate will be close to ZERO because job seekers will be so discouraged no one will be looking for jobs which will be non-existent. The only corporations in business will be more Solyndra's type receiving government loans at ZERO interest. All others would have fled the country to escape high taxes, extreme regulations & Obamacare. I am assuming president ZERO gets re-elected.

You think the people answering their phones are giving straight answers to Gallup? Gallup now calls Obama phones too! And both parties are spending a couple billion on 100’s of thousands of dirt cheap volunteers who would otherwise not be working. When Grandma and Grandpa go back into the labor force (so they don’t have to eat pet food) just watch that unemployment rate rise.

You nailed it. It’s bad enough that people believe anything pollsters like Gallup put out as if it were gospel truth when it’s just a political poll - but now we’re getting our employment statistics from them too?

BS! Ask your neighbors, friends, people who live down the block if this is reality. People are going to have to decide whether they believe their own senses or Obamas lies.

Perhaps it’s just a coincidence that they arrested a Bangladeshi trying to blow up the Federal Reserve, this week. You can’t be suggesting there’s a connection between that and the election campaign.

All I know is this:

I’m retired, but work part-time as a”notary-on-wheels” for law firms, collecting signatures on various legal documents. There has been a massive explosion in the number of people filing for Social Security Disability. These are dropouts from the work force, most of which have no discernable physical limitations. When people are rejected on their application, the lawyers take over and frequently make it work.

In about two weeks the most dangerous place in the world will be Libya. We will wag the hell out of that dog to get voters to forget about Obama's confusion about the Benghazi attack.
