Politico: Obama cedes the future to Romney
Politico ^ | October 19, 2012 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 10/18/2012 2:21:39 AM PDT by Zakeet

President Barack Obama has been onstage with Mitt Romney now for a collective three hours and has yet to enunciate anything within hailing distance of a second-term agenda.

He wants to “win the future,” he just doesn’t have a very clear idea about how to do it. His slogan is “forward,” but his campaign is unmistakably backward-looking. His case for reelection has about as much to do with the past four years of the Bush administration as the next four years of the prospective second Obama administration.

All of his campaign’s energy has been devoted to tearing down Romney. If a fraction of its effort had been spent on coming up with a few new proposals around which Obama could wrap a fresh-feeling policy platform, he wouldn’t be forced to run such a remorselessly negative campaign. He could do more — at least as much as is possible for an incumbent president — to keep the mantle of hope and change.

The irony is that Obama aides always said that it would be a choice election. They were right. But they have been running as if the election were a referendum on the challenger. The only real choice that the Obama campaign has offered is one between believing Romney is a heartless right-wing extremist and believing Romney is a soulless opportunist.

This has allowed Romney, pricelessly, free running to present himself as the man with the plan.

Obama’s eyes were very telling....sometimes half closed; sometimes blinking non-stop; sometimes strangely wide open. Makes you wonder...................

It was easy for Obama to step into the happiness vacuum in ‘08 and talk in nice platitudes about “hope and change”. A war-weary public ate it up, without every questioning what it meant or the man delivering it. Now, in 2012, Obama has a “hope and change” record, and he can’t run from it. Believe me, if the economy was booming he’d be singing it from the rooftops and his re-election would be sealed. But Americans have pretty much always voted their pocketbook and this time is no different.

When Obama loses, will ANY libs have the courage to speak out and admit they were duped by the rock star/messiah image? We’ll see.

From the Washington Times, April 30, 2012:

New Obama slogan has long ties to Marxism, socialism

[snip]

Many Communist and radical publications and entities throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name "Forward!" or its foreign cognates. Wikipedia has [since deleted] an entire section called "Forward (generic name of socialist publications)."

"The name Forward carries a special meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications," the online encyclopedia explains.

The slogan "Forward!" reflected the conviction of European Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the march of history, which would move forward past capitalism and into socialism and communism.

The Obama campaign released its new campaign slogan Monday in a 7-minute video. The title card has simply the word "Forward" with the "O" having the familiar Obama logo from 2008. It will be played at rallies this weekend that mark the Obama re-election campaign's official beginning. ..."

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek"-- BARACK OBAMA

"The Communist Party USA views the 2008 elections as a tremendous opportunity to defeat the policies of the right-wing Republicans and to move our country in a new progressive direction.

The record turnout in the Democratic Presidential primary races shows that millions of voters, including millions of new voters, are using this election to bring about real change. We wholeheartedly agree with them."

A Landslide Mandate For Change

A breakthrough election
Congratulations on an extraordinary history making election!

We can think back with pride to decades of hard work toward our strategic goal of a big enough, broad enough and united enough labor and all-people’s movement that could overcome the ultra-right blockage to all progress. That all people’s movement has come to life, it is dynamic and it has the potential to keep growing.

The election of Barack Obama and a strengthened Congress creates new conditions in our country. There is now the possibility to shift gears and move forward. This new day requires us to further develop our tactics in order to continue to deepen and broaden labor and people’s unity.

There are thousands of experiences that we all have had in these momentous days, some large, some small, all of which express the enormity of change in thinking and readiness for involvement that is underway and that steels us for the battles ahead.

The tears of joy we all shared as crowds gathered to watch the election results here and throughout the world dramatize the new moment we are in.

Change is Here, Change is Coming

Sam Webb, National Chair, Communist Party, USA:

Let me begin with a simple observation: If the last 30 years were an era of reaction, then the coming decade could turn into an era of reform, even radical reform. Six months into the Obama presidency, I would say without hesitation that the landscape, atmosphere, conversation, and agenda have strikingly changed compared to the previous eight years.

In this legislative session, we can envision winning a Medicare-like public option and then going further in the years ahead.

We can visualize passing tough regulatory reforms on the financial industry, which brought the economy to ruin.

We can imagine the troops coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan while U.S. representatives participate in a regional process that brings peace and stability to the entire region.

In the current political climate, the expansion of union rights becomes a real possibility.

Much the same can be said about winning a second stimulus bill, and we sure need one, given the still-rising rate, and likely long term persistence, of unemployment.

Isn’t it possible in the Obama era to create millions of green jobs in manufacturing and other sectors of the economy in tandem with an attack on global warming?

Can’t we envision taking new strides in the long journey for racial and gender equality in this new era, marked at its beginning by the election of the first African American to the presidency?

And isn’t the overhaul of the criminal justice and prison system – a system steeped in racism – no longer pie-in-the sky, but something that can be done in the foreseeable future?

All these things are within reach now!

As I looked at the photo above I swear I could see the inner Demon looking out.

If I read him right the Demon within is really pissed at the man without for squandering the plan on Waygu beef and cocaine.

He’s looking for another soul to steal. This one is gone to ruin.

The story is one of perversion, drug abuse and Demonic possession.

The only "wonder" is that there is any man left there at all.

Romney needs to turn to Obama and say, "Stop telling the American people what you think I stand for - and start telling them what you stand for - I can speak for myself." And so far I haven't had a moderator as a team member ... I've lacked that advantage - so let's keep it simple."

The most powerful argument each candidate has against the other is that their agenda has been tried but failed. That is why Obama keeps linking Romney to President George W. Bush, and why it was so important that Romney finally got some distance from Bush at the Hempstead debate.

Candy - Obama's main 'ho' did that for him. From behind Candy's skirt could be heard the plaintive cry - 'Link him to Bush - link him NOW'... and in good form - Candy asked Romney how he was different than Bush.... Eff you CNN...
