ATHENS--Tens of thousands of Greeks took to the streets of Athens Thursday, demanding the Greek government call off plans to appease international creditors with more spending cuts and tax increases.
Many of the demonstrators held banners imploring the government to "Sacrifice the capital funds of the European Union and International Monetary Fund, not the people" and "Stop the measures driving us into poverty."

Just think about how screwed up this thinking is. Assume I make $40K a year and spend $50K a year by borrowing on my credit card. I then max out the card and can't borrow anymore and have to start paying it back. Do I protest to the credit card company that they should extend more credit to me so I can keep living off $50K a year? That is insanity. Yet its the mentality that the Welfare State creates.
I can’t wrap my head around it either. What part of “You have no money!” do they not understand?
Now that they’ve blown through their own “paycheck”, they want to spend their neighbor’s, too.
Taxes,we don’t pay no stinkin’ taxes!
“Free Baklava For All!”
I literally do not understand this either..... It’s like they don’t understand the concept that nothing in this life is free.
Real “austerity” is what will happen when Germany declines to throw good money after bad and says “no more.” The cretins in the streets don’t have a clue.
The Greek government should just print up about 100 gazillian dollars and give every citizen a portion of it. This way they will all be rich.
I just want to see the face of the woman who has to pay 200,000 dollars for a pound of olives.
I guess they don’t care as long as it’s free to THEM!

Oh my gosh, my ex-wife is Greek!
