A 19-year-old Pennsylvania councilman reportedly remains behind bars after allegedly stealing Mitt Romney campaign signs and damaging a farm field.
The Express-Times reports that Alburtis Councilman Kyle A. Bower was arraigned Wednesday on charges stemming from the Oct. 3 incidents and sent to Lehigh County Prison. A judge set Bower’s bail at $5,000, but the teenager won’t be released from custody even if he posts it due to a probation violation.
Bower, a Democrat less than a year into his first borough council term, is on probation after pleading guilty to escape and stalking charges on Jan. 4, the same day he took the oath of office, the newspaper reports.

He was a 17 year old alcoholic in rehab so the voters thought that it would be a great idea to make him a councilman at 18?
Plus he’s already on probation. They should charge him with Impersonating a Kennedy.

I was laughing so hard when I was trying to read this story to Hubby this morning that he could barely understand me.

Sounds about right. True story, just yesterday we had a local schoolteacher who is very involved in politics (dem) who recently during class asked kids to go and get election signs from the candidates and for every sign they bring in they would get 1 point.
Now supposedly he told them not to just take them from peoples yards and that it was illegal, but he knew darn well that kids are kids and within 2 days he had over 100 signs in his back room. Around here the R’s outnumber the D by about 3 to 1 so it wasn’t too great a leap to figure out what the guy was trying to do.
One old lady had her signs stolen, heard about it from her grandson and called the cops, who went in and took them all from him. Small town politics at its best, I’m just waiting to hear if they do anything to him for it.
