At a campaign event for Barack Obama's reelection campaign, Bill Clinton said that Mitt Romney's argument "is true, we're not fixed":
"Governor Romney's argument is, we're not fixed, so fire him and put me in," said Clinton. "It is true we're not fixed. When President Obama looked into the eyes of that man who said in the debate, I had so much hope four years ago and I don't now, I thought he was going to cry. Because he knows that it's not fixed."
UPDATE: A Romney spokesman comments: "We agree with former President Bill Clinton. The economy has not been fixed under President Barack Obama. Today, more than 23 million Americans are struggling for work, poverty has increased and food stamps are at record levels. Mitt Romney believes we can do better by creating 12 million new jobs with higher take-home pay, cutting spending to put our nation on course for a balanced budget, and actually fixing our economy."

Clinton wants to be the guy who “almost saved Obama” in 2012. You don’t want to upset Hillary’s base. She’s going to need that base in 2016.

He's probably really pissed that Hillary's being made the scapegoat for Obama's failings, and now is out to doom Obama's reelection chances so that he (via Hill) can regain the presidency in 2016. He may also believe that Obama's chances are not too good at this point anyway, so why not set it up for his wife next time around.

It’s deeper. Obama called him a racist in South Carolina during the 08 primary. He ran a very dirty primary fight against his wife. He made his wife SecState, then shoved her out of the way, conducting diplomacy around her. And now, this Benghazi matter happens, and he exiles his wife to Peru.
The Clintons may not have any real love for each other, but messing with Hillary? That’s Bill’s job. And nobody gets away with calling him a racist, especially some man-child of a president who had not the discipline to fight the “right wing conspiracy”. Bill knows it’s over for Obama, and now, he’s made sure he is well placed to get his vengeance for South Carolina. And it’s a dish best served cold.
November 6th. And a whole bunch of his friends too.
