I’m 5’3” 120 lb country born & raised (lots of male cousins to practice on) female and I”ll take Larry up on the deal of taking a swing at him!

There is no actual deal, though. This is just pretend tough guy talk coming from a guy that nobody watches who wants people to talk about him. So he got what he wanted for tonight. Truthfully, if you ran into him somewhere and said BOO to him he would immediately call the cops. What makes this idiot so brave is the convenience of knowing that the person he’s challenging doesn’t even know that he exists.

The real story here is that with all of the anger and occasional violence in our country in these times this moron’s network allows him to put this kind of garbage out over the air. If he still has a show to host tomorrow (and of course he will) then that means NBC approves of this type of behavior.

And the bar continues to be set lower and lower...

So he must have had a deferment. That means someone else got drafted who otherwise would not have.

In 1971, Romney was married, with two children and attending Brigham Young University.

Of course, he had a deferment. As did millions of others with a family and/or attending college.

So it is.

For my part, I think we should bring back duels.

God, I could use a decent trophy wall. Sigh.

I was talking about O’Donnell. I only mentioned it because he called Romney’s son a coward and afraid to fight. He has also called Mitt Romney a draft dodger in the past.

Lawrence O’Donnell is a mean, smug, evil bastard who thinks he is smarter than the rest of us. How NBC allows him to continue proves they are as crazy and demented as O’Donnell.

*********

The media watchdog website NewsBusters reported that on Tuesday night O’Donnell said, “Now part of Romney’s religion problem is that he’s a part of a new religion. Established religions like Judaism, which is about 4,000 years old, and Christianity, which is about 2,000 years old, don’t easily warm up to new religions like Romney’s, which is only 182 years old. Mormonism was created by a guy in upstate New York in 1830 when he got caught having sex with the maid and explained to his wife that God told him to do it. Forty-eight wives later, Joseph Smith’s lifestyle was completely sanctified in the religion he invented to go with it. Which Mitt Romney says he believes.”

At the conservative National Review Online, Kevin Williamson dropped the hammer on O’Donnell in a piece titled, simply, “Lawrence O’Donnell, Bigot.”

“Thanks for the Muppet News Flash, Larry,” Williamson wrote. “The exact nature of Smith’s polygamy is contested (his only children were from his first wife, leading some to believe that his polygamy was of a non-sexual nature), but, yes, he was a polygamist. So was Solomon. So was Abraham. … Mormons gave up polygamy a long time ago. It’s not the 19th century any more. But anti-Mormonism is this season’s fashionable bigotry.”

This is not the first time O’Donnell has used intolerant speech against Mormons on television, Williamson noted. In 2007, before he got his gig on MSNBC, O’Donnell didn’t bother feigning objectivity during a televised appearance on the political talk show “The McLaughlin Group.” On that occasion O’Donnell described Mormonism with adjectives like demented, crazy and ridiculous; he also called Smith a “lying, fraudulent criminal.”

Not long after the McLaughlin Group imbroglio, O’Donnell attempted to clarify his positions about Mitt Romney and the Mormon faith by penning a blog post for the Huffington Post.

“The more you know about Romney’s religion, the more you want to ask him questions about it,” O’Donnell wrote. “Your religion was founded by an alcoholic criminal named Joseph Smith who committed bank fraud and claimed God told him polygamy was cool after his first wife caught him having an affair with the maid and who then went on to have 33 wives, and you really believe every word that he said and wrote? Do you really believe that the American Indian is genetically descended from Israelites? Would it shake your belief if DNA testing showed no such relationship between Indian tribes and Jews? Do you really believe that Jesus Christ came to America?”

Tagg would lay a “wedgie” on Larry the Barry Guy and it would be over that quick. Lighten up Larry before you hurt yourself.

So what we have here is a wannabe tough guy who calls out people who he knows he will never have to answer to, either because they don’t know he exists or because they died nearly two centuries ago. Maybe this guy should stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and try and do a couple of decent segments on that show of his that nobody watches. Then he can put a nice audition tape together and maybe trick someone into hiring him at a better network... which would be any network.

Dodging humble, difficult, military service and war, is not the same as seeking power, wealth, and desiring to become the most powerful, the most pampered man on earth, they are not the same thing.

At age 65, Mitt Romney is living a rich man’s dream of global power and recognition, he is not sacrificing and suffering like the humble, anonymous young patriots that he will send into harms way.

By your measure, Bill Clinton, “serve[d]-big time”, Obama “serve[d]-big time”.

Desire to serve in Vietnam: Different years, two different Romneys.

*”I was not planning on signing up for the military. It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam...”
Boston Herald, 5/2/94

*”I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.”
Boston Globe, 6/24/07

Yes, this guy is a jerk and a loon, but doesn’t it make anyone else uncomfortable that none of Romney’s sons are in the military when Romney is so gung-ho for the wars in the Middle East?

Liberals don’t know how to represent their ideas in a competitive world of thought. Political correctness involves absolute submission to liberalism’s economic slogans, and their brand of racism and sexism. When faced with uppity people who argue against their dictates and whom they can not fire or fail in class, they turn to the only other option - smash mouth thugishness.

What a blowhard. This is the extent of liberal “smart”; smash mouth attempts at political intimidation. Lawrence and his big mouth will be in the trunk of the DNC bus soon. It going to be crowded in there...and nasty. Sad that they have gotten so much power in this country.

No.

And I am sick of the nonsense that one has to have some personal connection to the military in order to have a valid opinion about going to war.

Either we have civilian control of the military, or we don't. Either just being a citizen is enough, or we have a military junta.

If someone can't point out the real merits or drawbacks of someone's foreign policy ideas, specious crap like "you just want other people's children to die while yours go to college" just makes you sound like a Democrat.

My immediate family has four Marine Corp vets in it, and my relatives have served in every war going back to the Revolution.

We support Mitt Romney wholeheartedly. Obama is horrible. He has set the middle East on fire and with his deranged rules of engagement endangered our troops everywhere. It's Romney or Obama, and this military family will go with Romney 100%.

Individuals not serving is one thing, but the Romneys are unique, they have refused military service not only since before WWII, but all the way back to when they arrived here to serve Joseph Smith, 170 years ago.

They have a perfect, unbroken record, a family rule written in stone, mix that in with the anti-American acts of the grandfather, fleeing the country, and of the earlier ancestors, and we see a pattern.
