Uh Oh: CIA in Libya had evidence Benghazi attack carried out by terrorists within 24 hours of attack

Everybody in the administration has been throwing our intelligence under the bus. But now we find out that the CIA knew within 24 hours of the Benghazi attacks on 9/11 that it was not a protest or a mob, but terrorists:

CBS NEWS — U.S. officials tell The Associated Press that the CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month’s deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a mob upset about an American-made, anti-Muslim movie.

It is unclear whether anyone outside the CIA saw the cable at that point or how high up in the CIA the information went.

The Obama administration maintained publicly for a week that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi that killed four Americans was a result of the mobs that staged less-deadly protests across the Muslim world around the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S.

One thing I’ve noticed is that no matter who brings up the miscommunication that came out of the Obama administration over these attacks, Obama clearly doesn’t want to talk about it. This the second half of Obama’s interview last night on the Daily show. Skip ahead to 2:50 to hear the discussion on Libya and watch how Obama reacts when Stewart presses him on the miscommunication with respect to Susan Rice. He seems to get a little testy to me, but also notice what he says:

So as soon as they get the information they give it to the American people. Then why didn’t we hear what the State Dept. said? Why didn’t we hear what the CIA in Libya was reporting? NOBODY thought this was a stupid protest over a stupid movie. NOBODY...

It's one of two things. 1) Obama lied about what and when he knew it. 2) Or or he and his administration are utterly incompetent.

He has no choice but to stuck with one of those 2 options. He can't wiggle out; one of those 2 options is true.

In the meantime, liberals are still outraged that GWB continued to read a story to schoolchildren for eight minutes after he learned of the World Trade 9/11.

Perhaps if Hussein had a realistic policy for the Mid East and had been more interested in doing his job than fund raising, campaigning or covering for his radical muzzie bros, then the word COVERUP might not be a much in vogue.

Say, wasn't the Watergate coverup the cause of Nixon's resignation and yet, NO ONE DIED AT THE WATERGATE! I guess it is not "optimal" that four people died at Benghazi.

100s of Americans in a dozen places were listening to the entire attack in live time. They knew what it was from the start. This was not an "intel failure," it was a LEADERSHIP failure. Instead of ordering a possibly messy rescue, Obama hunkered down and came up with the video lie/excuse. A few dead Americans were preferred over a rescue that might have gone in any direction.

They will try an option 3): There are very sensitive issues involved that cannot be made public at this time. These shaped the Administrations external PR response. Trust us. (and followed by getting angry): Would we lie to you?

Third (and most likely) scenario: Both are true.

IMO, the movie lie was a part of Øbozo's continuing effort to champion Islam. (See his UN speech...)

And Øbozo and his regime are not merely incompetent, they consistently act against the best interests of the USA.

Is there a reason the CIA (and entire defense dept) doesn’t want to share knowledge about enemies in the mid-east with Obama?

I believe Obama knew the facts early on and tried to hide them from us. But I’m willing to accept that the CIA wanted to hide things from Obama if that’s what he wants to claim. I’d probably even accept that the CIA tried to tell Obama but he was too busy golfing and fund-raising.

There are lots of believable explanations of the administration’s response. I think they should say that they were lying to us for campaign purposes. As scary as that is, the others are much worse.

Yes but even with 3 (and they probably will try that); it still shows they are incompetent.

Obama could care less what the CIA told him. He knew if he admitted it was terrorism it would show that he failed, that his whole Libya plan (not to mention his dealings in the Mideast) was a debacle, and that- contrary to his constant boasts- that al-Qaeda is on the rise again.

(He's no different from the guy singing praises about him on the campaign trail, BJ Clinton- another POTUS who treated the intelligence community like an insignificant throwaway, and slashed spending, leading to 9/11).
