Please watch Cardinal Dolan’s Benediction. He referred to both candidates as “honorable,” equated Biden and Ryan as Catholics under the Catholic “big tent,” and made very tepid comments which no one will remember about religious freedom. Bottom line: Both candidates are worthy of the Catholic vote.

most writers don’t inject themselves into their story, as Brown wasn’t at the dinner. Yet, the article becomes about her. She’s a private citizen like me. And heads a private organization. She has no position in the church. Other than highly-paid fundraiser.

There is a election, expected to be very close, here in my area for state rep. NARAL lib vs. Catholic pro-lifer. The A.L.L. affiliate is not participating. Which is not surprising.

My small group does not boycott such elections. No compromise on boycotting. No exceptions.

Here are a few things you should know about Archbishop Dolan. The only good news about his stay in Milwaukee was that he replaced Rembert Weakland.

1) He refused to take a stand on the Wisconsin Emergency Contraception Mandate which forces Catholic hospitals to make the abortifacient “morning after” pill available to rape victims. http://www.all.org/newsroom_judieblog.php?id=1829 (Eighth article on page, titled Wisconsin Catholic Conference Inertia)
2) He refused to silence the substantial minority of Milwaukee priests who preached from the pulpit against the Wisconsin Marriage Amendment. http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/29216494.html
3) He turned a cold shoulder to the Milwaukee “Catholic” pro-life community, as described by Judie Brown in my original post.
4) He involved the disgraced Rembert Weakland in archdiocese activities to the point of excess. (Weakland is still on the board of the Wisconsin Catholic Conference!)

I know that facts don’t matter to cheerleaders, but maybe some of the other Catholics who see this will “get it”.
