Entering home stretch, Obama campaign running on empty
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/19/2012 | Byron York

President Obama's stump speech Thursday at Veterans Memorial Park in Manchester, N.H., was much like the speeches he's given across battleground states in the last few weeks. Listen to it, and you'll hear the short version of what the president promises to accomplish in a second term. It's not much.

"I will not be satisfied until everybody who wants to work hard can find a job," the president told the crowd. To make that happen, he promised to do five things.

First, he would "send fewer jobs overseas [and] sell more products overseas." He proposed to "reward companies that are investing right here" in order to "create good jobs and provide security for the middle class."

Second, he would "control more of our own energy and how we use energy" by "investing in the energy sources of tomorrow." This will not only make America more energy-independent, Obama said, but will also help stop global warming, which leads to "droughts and floods and fires."

Third, the president would create "the best education system in the world right here in the United States." He proposed to hire new math and science teachers and provide job training in community colleges. He also said he'll "work with colleges and universities to keep tuition low."

Fourth, Obama would "cut the deficit by $4 trillion over the next 10 years." He has already "cut spending that we didn't need," he said, and will do more in the future, but vowed not to cut any funds in areas like education and research.

Fifth, Obama would raise taxes on higher-income Americans. "We can't get this done unless we also ask the wealthiest households to pay higher taxes on their incomes above $250,000," Obama said. "That's how you do it."

"I will not be satisfied until everybody who wants to work hard can find a job," the president told the crowd.

So, there won't be a job for you then, Barry? Since you only want jobs for those willing to work hard?

His campaign is out of gas, totally out of gas, thosse stump speeches are a bunch of regurgitated pap from 2008. Folks he’s mailing it in, he knows he CANNOT hit 270 EVs. Lets work hard on our ground game and finish strong.

Isn’t this just a blatant rip-off of Romney’s five point economic plan that he’s be touting in the debates?

"That's my agenda for change," Obama told the crowd. "That's what we need to do. ... That's why I'm running for a second term." The president offered no specifics on how he would accomplish any of it.

So why didn't he do any of this in his first term? Too busy golfing and hob-knobbing with celebrities?

Why is Romney allowing Obama to present himself to the voters as a challenger? They should be all over him on this. Instead of talking about what he will do if he is re-elected, somebody needs to ask him why isn't he doing these things now? Why does he need to be re-elected in order to do the job he already has?

They might be running on empty, but they’ve got all the ‘objective’ journalists and moderators with them...

He proposed to hire new math ... teachers

He needs one assigned to him personally. When he claimed that the math did not work in response to Romney, his nose should have lengthened 3 inches right then and there!

Fourth, Obama would "cut the deficit by $4 trillion over the next 10 years." He has already "cut spending that we didn't need," he said, and will do more in the future, but vowed not to cut any funds in areas like education and research.

Any pennies for defense?

The liberal media will continue to publish fake polls and Nate Silver will us tell from the other universe that Obama will be re-elected.

The ground story tells us different. Their Golden Boy is in the dumps and they have to keep him on life support to make it look good.

But it still doesn’t make him a winner!

It's always "more taxes"... they'll never put out a number that says "this is 'fair share', not a penny less or more".

Ask any liberal what a "fair share" is...as in "what percentage of total income taxes should the Top 1% (or 5%, 10% or 25%) pay?".

You'll find they don't have the foggiest idea...but, if you force them, they'll always guess at a number that is lower than the percentage that segment already pays.

Which, unfortunately, will prove absolutely nothing to them...

Time for Romney to spread his coattails and get our Senatorial candidates on board.

We need those Senators in order to incinerate and bury Obamacare.

“Everything he says makes it sound as if he hasn’t been president for the last 4 years.”

That’s right; his whole premise (and it is put forth by his media as well) is that he is running against Bush’s third term. Anyone looking at him as an incumbent knows his speeches are a waste of time; a bunch of BS.

If this country re-elects him I have any remaining sympathy for large segments of our population; they are outright enemies.

“He proposed to hire new math and science teachers”

This one was really bizarre for anyone in the northeast (though is demonstrated how the teachers’ unions basically own the Democratic Party - it isn’t the other way around); we’ve been laying off thousands of teachers (as well as cops and firemen). I’d also love to know what we should do with the thousands of “education majors” currently pretending to teach math & science...

One thing the 'rats never answer -- what tax rate is high enough for a "fair share"?

So true. I've asked that question on my alumni blog for at least two years, with nary an answer.

Fourth, Obama would "cut the deficit by $4 trillion over the next 10 years."

Averaging $400 billion per year... which would still leave the annual deficit larger than when he took office.

Obama was given $831,000,000,000 (that’s BILLIONS, for those in Rio Linda) for his economic ‘stimulus’ package. Four years later, what do we have to show for it? 43 months of unemployment over 8%.

And this moronic failure is seeking a second term? It is to laugh.
