Russia Wants Obama to Win
Vanity | 10/19/2012 | LowTaxesEqualsProsperity

Posted on 10/19/2012 10:41:03 AM PDT by LowTaxesEqualsProsperity

I have a good friend from Russia, who has lived in the U.S. for 5 years and regularly watches Russian TV via DirecTV satellite.

This friend reports that all of the U.S. Presidential debates are being shown live on Russian TV, with English to Russian translation.

Russian stations Vesti and Channel 1 are covering the elections in great detail. They are reporting on the Romney vs. Obama differences on economic and foreign policy, very accurately (Romeny wants lower taxes and less regulation, Obama wants higher taxes and government involvement in the economy, Romney is for a stronger American involvement in world affairs, Obama is for less, etc.).

Russian TV (which toes the Putin government line) says openly that Russia will be better off if Obama is re-elected because he will weaken the American economy and military and American involvement in various regions of the world. They report that a Romney victory means a stronger America, and hence is not good for Russian interests.

Of course they do. They’re salivating over what 0 promised them after the election when he will have ‘more flexibility’.

Of course they want Obama to win, he’s given them everything they ever could have wanted from the US. I’m sure if they had their way they’d like to see him appointed president for life.

Can’t really fault them for their feelings, can you? Who wouldn’t want to live in a country where the media and the government want it to be a world leader and have success...oh wait...

I see nothing wrong with this (from the Russian perspective). Competition! I told a pro-Chavez Venezuelan that I normally do not get involved in other nations’ politics but if I were to hope for a winner I would choose Chavez because one less capitalist in the world is one less competitor for the United States.

Of course, for the Venezuelan people and world stability I would hope that Chavez would have lost but I don’t tell them that.

I forgot to add that from an American perspective this is very bad (especially if Obama does win) because of that your post is worth a lot.

Thanks for posting it

I think most Europeans still want Obama to win too, except for the Poles and maybe most of the Czechs.

A population that NEVER had freedom, and doesn’t have too much now cannot relate. Europe as a whole thinks that it is the purpose of government to smooth out the speed bumps of life. They are used to kings, queens, dictators and other assorted pseudo royalty having the good life as long as their own bowl of gruel is hot and ready at dinner time and they can take the month of August off to go to a beach somewhere.

When the great war with Islam comes, they will be thankful Romney is in there.:

It would be great if the question of “flexibility” with Medvyedev comes up in Monday’s debate...

>> one less capitalist in the world is one less competitor for the United States <<

An attempt at humor? I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

But on the other hand, if you really believe what you say, then you’d better change your screen name. That’s because if you presented the above wording as part of an answer to one of Tom Sowell’s exam questions about international trade and comparative advantage, I guarantee you’d get a big fat F.

Wonder why though? Obaba said the state department will inlude human rights towards gays with its dealing with other countries (see Poland) Russia seems to be going the opposite direction. Russians don’t care for muslims either. It all seem strange

If you do not believe what I say then you obviously do not believe that the capitalist system is the best possible system in the world to advance a nation (which is indeed what I was saying and I stick by it)

What Obama says and what he does are generally two entirely differen things.

If Romney doesn’t mention the off-mike comment to Putin in Monday’s foreign policy debate it will be a failure of epic proportions.
