The Obama Libya Cover-Up Explained (Long Article)
Townhall.com ^ | October 19, 2012 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: If you were here yesterday, you recall that the last hour of the program I kept promising, kept intending to spend some time on the latest developments of Benghazi and Libya. And I'm glad I didn't because all hell has broken loose overnight about this. We now know, McClatchy news has come out with the story that practically explains everything. Let me summarize it for you. McClatchy news says that the regime's concoction of the video story to explain the attack in Benghazi was a purposeful cover created by the regime to cover up the disaster that our operation involving the removing of Moammar Khadafy proved to be.

Getting rid of Khadafy basically turned the Benghazi area into an Al-Qaeda stronghold. That was the truth of the matter, and that's what the regime doesn't want anybody to know, or didn't. So they concocted the story that the video was responsible for the death of the ambassador and the three other Americans in the attack in Benghazi, because the regime had tried to tell this great story, "Look what we did. We cleaned up Libya. We got rid of an evil guy, and we've made Libya part of the Arab Spring, a great outbreak of democracy. Look, aren't we wonderful." When instead what happened was we kicked him out of there and then left ourselves, and we left ourselves nobody to control what was happening in the aftermath, and Al-Qaeda has established a beachhead in Benghazi.

Obama's running around saying that there is no more Al-Qaeda, until yesterday when he pulled it out of his speeches. He was saying there was no more Al-Qaeda. I'll tell you, what we have learned overnight and this morning, Romney is so set up for the foreign policy debate on Monday night, and there's much more detail to this. You know, brevity is the soul of wit. Everything that I am going to say down the road here on the program today basically will be to explain how McClatchy learned this. It involves the CIA. The CIA knew within 24 hours that it was a militant attack, that there was no video, there was no spontaneous demonstration. The State Department knew immediately. The White House knew. It was Jay Carney who started the lie.

It was Jay Carney under orders, I'm sure, from Obama and whoever else, which started the ball rolling on the video, and then Susan Rice gets involved. And again, all of that was to cover up an absolute disaster. Taking Khadafy out, it's arguable whether that was a good thing to do, but we did it, and in the process Obama's raising the flag, (Obama impression) "Look at me, look at me. I mean, I can pull the trigger as good as anybody, get bin Laden, take care of Libya." And what happened was, in fact, the ringleader of the Benghazi attack is now doing media appearances in the Middle East. He' going on The Oprah shows of that region bragging about what he did. He's not hiding behind a mask or anything. The ringleader of the attack is doing media appearances, is doing television shows.

Let's go quickly to John Bolton. A couple of audio sound bites here. Numbers ten and 11. He was on American Newsroom with Martha MacCallum this morning on Fox. And I love Bolton. You know, Bolton, former UN ambassador for us during Bush, tough-as-nails guy. He's very, very much into ideology and he is of the belief that the reason everything's falling apart in the Middle East is because of Obama's ideology, because of his liberalism, or Marxism or socialism, whatever you want to call it. His view that America is to blame, his view that it's always America's fault, and that's what enabled him to so easily swerve into blaming an American-made video, when he knew that's what it was not, by the way.

Everybody knew it was not the video. They were lying on purpose to prevent the dots from being connected that Obama's action created an Al-Qaeda beachhead in Benghazi.

And, by the way, Benghazi, the government, the head of Libya is in Tripoli, and we learn here Tripoli has no control, the government has no control over what's going on in Benghazi. Benghazi's a rogue, renegade place, and it's now Al-Qaeda's. I mean, it is utterly devastating.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here is John Bolton. So he was again with Martha MacCallum today on Fox and talking about the way the regime handled the aftermath of the attack. (interruption) No, I don't... (interruption) I'm not in the... (interruption) I'm being asked a question here. If people would leave me alone, you know, I could probably get this show done in an hour. But since everybody wants to know what I think, they ask me even when I'm in the middle of a monologue.

I don't think Obama's "optimal" comment is that big a deal, but there is a point to be made about it. He has no trouble whatsoever excoriating an American citizen over a video. He'll describe that person in the most despicable terms. But when it comes to the death of the ambassador, "Well, yeah, the death of four Americans, it's not optimal." He does have a different set of values.

I don't think that thing as a stand alone is that big a deal. You might disagree. We'll talk about it. Anyway, back to John Bolton. MacCallum said to him, "It seems to me to some extent if you were in the [regime], you felt uncomfortable about the way it was handled initially, one thing that you could do you is sort of make it very clear to the American people that the investigation is ongoing.

"Potentially hear from John Brennan, for example, other people who are very high up in this operation who are supposed to be watching over counterterrorism activities around the world. That would give people some reassurance about what's happening to avenge the deaths of these four American citizens." She's basically asking, "Why didn't they just say, 'We don't know what happened yet; we're looking into it,' instead of blaming the video?"

Well, you know the answer now, but I want you to hear what Bolton said.

Even the emergency helicopter rescue team rushed to Bengazi from Tripoli was ambushed, with additional 2 U.S. KIA. —why is no one talking about it..?

It’s like they KNEW the rescuers were coming.

And the motar fire they met once arriving at the “safe-house” (CIA base) was very accurate —experts on scene described it as PROFESSIONALLY aimed, not typical of revolutionaries.

This is HUGE.

SEE THE RING FOR WHAT IT IS...

What is the purpose of the huge complex secretly built under the WH, and why does the DHS have 1.5 billion rounds it cannot legally use outside of the USA?

But, but.. The security draw down in advance of this attack leads me to be open to the possibility this was a staged ‘hostage-taking’ gone awry. Why would team 0bama draw down security if they knew Al Qaeda had a lock on Benghazi? Perhaps team 0bama thought this hostage-taking would be successful if the bad guys thought they’d get the Blind Sheik back in return for Stevens.

What is amazing is that people pushed a lie that they SHOULD have known would eventually be found out. Did they think that the MSM was so powerful that their lies would never be discovered??

This is less than half of it. It was obvious from the get-go that taking out Kadaffi involved empowering al Qaeda and the Muslim terrorists in Libya. And for that matter, it was obvious that Obama chose the wrong side in Egypt from the get-go, backing the Muslim Brotherhood against the ruling regime.

I’ve been saying that in this forum ever since the so-called “Arab Spring” was announced by our idiot press, well before any of the regimes actually changed, and so have most other Freepers.

This isn’t some kind of sudden surprise. Obama was aiding and abetting the enemy, and he knew perfectly well what he was doing—as did Hillary the Muslim lover.

And, ironically, our ambassador to Libya, who was murdered, was at the forefront of assisting those terrorists during the revolt backed by Obama’s illegal war against a sovereign ally.

It’s not just terrorists in the Benghazi area, whom we helped to get rocket launchers and other weapons. It’s also the government itself, which is now basically Islamist. The various groups of terrorists have infighting among themselves, but they are all united in hating us, the suckers who helped them into power.

“But, but . . .” is right! This article doesn’t even refer to the cables released this afternoon! Of course, someone knew this area was problematic (how’s that for understatement?), and the odds are that EVERYONE in the administration who had any need to know DID KNOW what was going on from Hour One. They anticipated it!

Hostage-taking or not (and it’s a reasonable assumption, knowing how these America-haters work), there’s another facet. Stevens’ gayness. Just another PC-reality blind spot? I don’t think so. What kind of monster would place a gay citizen in the den of violent homophobes? But we’re not hearing anything on this aspect at all. Where’s LGBT on this?

That is why Stevens is dead. Seems that he was becoming too mouthy. Once he started receiving death threats and as his fears were increasing, his cables became more frequent and more frantic. He lost their confidence in his willingness to keep his mouth shut and bang.

Watch for more from Lt. Col. Andy Wood who has already stated he would put his entire career in jeopardy to get the truth out and take the consequences for outing classified information...including prison if necessary.

The guys who built that know it well, I’m sure. Probably CIA or military grunts. But they’ve probably all been killed in helicopter crashes in Afghanistan. Remember that helicopter crash in Afghanistan following the OBL raid? Lots of SEALs aboard.. We were told they weren’t affiliated with the OBL raid. I don’t believe that for one second. They knew too much.

In all of this, we must not forget that on the same day - 9/11 - in Cairo, there were demonstrations which the Obama Administration's Embassy immediately blamed on criticisms of a religion, although, as the following post points out, there were indications during the event by the participants in that event that demonstrators were responding directly to America and its leader (see below).

There is an article today lauding David Gregory for criticizing the Administration's response to Benghazi. His describing it as "sluggish, sloppy, and incoherent" simply plays into the previous "progressive" narrative about Obama's first debate performance and, in many ways, avoids the deliberate avoidance of condemnation of the underlying reasons for presidential lying, coverup, and perpetuation of a myth from the very beginning of what amounted to an act of war against America.

Had this attack occurred during the watch of a Republican President, Gregory and his network colleagues would be all over the facts of inadequate security, loss of lives, and same-day reactions which were, on their very face, dishonest and did not fit the facts Americans were seeing on television from both Cairo and Benghazi.

Gregory deserves no credit for this belated attempt to excuse the Administration's actions as simply "sluggish, sloppy, and incoherent."

Where were they on 9/11 when, after a days-before DNC Convention where both the VP and President, in high-fiving for a domestic audience of potential voters, used words and phrases which wise and judicious leaders might have perceived as being potentially provocative for enemies in the Middle East, then immediately acted to attribute the Cairo demonstrations on 9/11 to an obscure film few had seen until they gave it PR and promotion which may have exacerbated the problem?

A review of FOX's first reports on Cairo included reports of individuals chanting, "Obama, Obama, we're all Osama," and taking down the American flag, replacing it with their own flag, and then continuing their verbal attacks on the name of the President and America. Where was Gregory when the question might have been asked, "What may have attracted such a direct attack on the American President, when, only hours later, they were burning likenesses in effigy?"

Of course, the Cairo Embassy reaction was summarized in the following article posted on FR on that day:

"An Appalling Statement from the President" - Townhall.com | September 11, 2012 | Carol Platt Liebau

Posted on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 9:08:55 PM by Kaslin

"On 9/11, a day devoted to remembering those killed at the hands of Islamofascist terrorists -- and this year, a day when a mob in Egypt attacks the US embassy and replaces the American flag with the Al Qaeda one -- here is the Obama administration's statement in full:
'The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.'"

The above statement is the reaction Mitt Romney responded to initially, and for which he received such MSM and Dem indignation.

Why is no one questioning whether this entire coverup might have begun as a result of an unwillingness to accept any responsibility for Cairo and a determination to disassociate the messages of that crowd from the previous week's words and boasts? All of which was made worse when the Benghazi attack transpired.

Bush's idea that democracy would sweep the Middle East, because the Moslems were longing for freedom, just like us, was naive. By now, Hillary and Obama should have known better.

Interesting bit from last year, that I had filed in my memory under "Things That Make You Go Hmmm":

Pres. Obama Drops By Martha’s Vineyard Home of Comcast CEO
By Chris Ariens on August 22, 2011 10:39 AM

After golf and before his statement on Libya,* Pres. Obama stopped by the Martha’s Vineyard home of Comcast CEO Brian Roberts. That’s the motorcade, right. Comcast is the majority owner of NBCUniversal. From the pool report, on Politico:

The presidential motorcade on Martha’s Vineyard peeled out of Blue Heron Farms at 5:15 p.m. with the president and Valerie Jarrett in tow. …Obama and Jarrett arrived at West Tisbury home of their friends, Brian and Aileen Roberts, spokesman Josh Earnest informs us. It was 5:30 p.m. Roberts is chairman and CEO of Comcast.

This is how I knew that the "spontaneous uprising" meme and the "Kidnap" rumor (that Obama arranged to have the ambassador kidnapped so he could rescue him) were both a lot of bovine excrement.

Spontaneous demonstrators don't carry mortars and RPG's around with them, even in Benghazi. Their prescence and use means this was a planned operation.

Kidnappers don't use mortars and RPG's either, since hostages aren't worth much when they're blown to bits.

The administration watched the 6 hour attack from video monitors in the WH and State Dept.

At no time did the CIC order ground and/or air support from US Navy vessels in the Med for American personnel falling under heavy enemy fire while on US soil.

Anyone asking why not?

Great post as always. After the last debate, Sen. Lindsay Graham was on a talk show lambasting the Administration's handling of the Benghazi situation. I'm sure the moderator and the viewers for the most part thought, 'yep, that's just a Republican politician jumping on the bandwagon to go after Obama.'

But Graham's demeanor was unusually aggressive and his words were very sharp especially on the issue of failing to respond to the Ambassador's pleas for beefed up security. Based on the discussion, Graham knows a lot about those days in Libya before and after the 9/11 attack, much more than any run of the mill Congressman.

Just wondering if he and Stevens were more than strangers passing in the night? Wouldn't be surprised if many in the closet with Stevens are ready to speak out.
