Statement by the President on the Attack in Benghazi (September 12, 2012)
The White House ^ | September 12, 2012 | Office of the Press Secretary

Posted on 10/19/2012 12:52:04 PM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

For Immediate Release

I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.

I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.

On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya's transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.

The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward.

"I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya"

Total BS Alert! They won't even put a team on the ground to investigate.

"senseless violence"

Terrorism ISN'T "senseless".

Terrorists want the West to capitulate to Islam. Terror is their completely knowing and sensible tool.

It worked with Spain.

It works all over Europe.

Terror is A COMPLETELY SENSIBLE STRATEGY for Islamic supremacists.

This is satire, right?
The Benghazi attack was one month, one week and two days ago. Even this White House knows that statements are sent asap after such an event.............. Don't they?

Actually, THIS is the transcript in question the night of the 2nd debate. The one Candy was ready to whip out...

Remarks by the President on the Deaths of U.S. Embassy Staff in Libya

Rose Garden

10:43 A.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT:  Good morning.  Every day, all across the world, American diplomats and civilians work tirelessly to advance the interests and values of our nation.  Often, they are away from their families.  Sometimes, they brave great danger.

Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi.  Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith.  We are still notifying the families of the others who were killed.  And today, the American people stand united in holding the families of the four Americans in our thoughts and in our prayers.

The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack.  We're working with the government of Libya to secure our diplomats.  I've also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world.  And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.

Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths.  We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others.  But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence.  None.  The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts.

Already, many Libyans have joined us in doing so, and this attack will not break the bonds between the United States and Libya.  Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans.  Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.

It's especially tragic that Chris Stevens died in Benghazi because it is a city that he helped to save.  At the height of the Libyan revolution, Chris led our diplomatic post in Benghazi.  With characteristic skill, courage, and resolve, he built partnerships with Libyan revolutionaries, and helped them as they planned to build a new Libya.  When the Qaddafi regime came to an end, Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there.  He was a role model to all who worked with him and to the young diplomats who aspire to walk in his footsteps.

Along with his colleagues, Chris died in a country that is still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war. Today, the loss of these four Americans is fresh, but our memories of them linger on.  I have no doubt that their legacy will live on through the work that they did far from our shores and in the hearts of those who love them back home.

Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks.  We mourned with the families who were lost on that day.  I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery, and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed.  And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it.  Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.  Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America.  We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act.  And make no mistake, justice will be done.

But we also know that the lives these Americans led stand in stark contrast to those of their attackers.  These four Americans stood up for freedom and human dignity.  They should give every American great pride in the country that they served, and the hope that our flag represents to people around the globe who also yearn to live in freedom and with dignity.

We grieve with their families, but let us carry on their memory, and let us continue their work of seeking a stronger America and a better world for all of our children.

Thank you.  May God bless the memory of those we lost and may God bless the United States of America.

END
10:48 A.M. EDT

As you see - the word "terror" is used. One time. But not in connection with Benghazi. So as we all kow... Obama was lying on debate night when he said he called Benghazi a terrorist attack on 9/12.

If you watch the video he states about 3/4 the way through that “No acts of terror will dampen Americas resolve....” This is the only time he uses the word. It is a sensless attack, It is a shocking attack, it is an outrageous attack.
Why couldn’t he say the truth which he knew that it was a terrorist attack and it wasn’t because of a barely viewed 3 month old video. He is so used to lying to promote some agenda.

If they are going to try and parse words Obama still lied. He said "act of terror" not "acts of terror".

Obama made other comments/statements that week. Read beyond his Rose Garden speech. On the 15th in his weekly radio address he called it an “angry mob”. He’s lying and the press is letting him get away with it.

Let's not forget the U.N. apology speech.

"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam."

Look at his emphasis, two solid weeks after 9-11-2012

HE SAID: (3rd para) "And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people"""".....

WE will work: where's/who's the WE, Mr. Prez.? All we ever hear out of you is "I did this", "I did that". Now there are WE's?

Which Libyan government? The same ones who knew this was going on and did not stop it? The same ones that YOU meddled with and helped put in POWER over there? THOSE ONES, Mr.Prez.?

Bring to justice? Your kidding right?

OUR PEOPLE: are you being Racist? Always refer to them as AMERICANS, always you DOLT. (guess only Blacks can use the "OUR PEOPLE" thingy.

Mr. Prez. you are truly a very sick, vile and despicable person. You have no idea how much you are hated. There is not a shred of decency in your soul, do you have one?.

Mr. Prez., try to hold your temper on Monday night, while MITT ROMNEY skewers you. Try not to bring forth your "Chicago Street Thug" persona this time, on second thought, DO.

rIGHT The Rose Garden statement you posted is correct. However, Obama issued other statements on the 12th and days following that DO NOT mention terrorism. The “transcript” he’s hiding behind are contradicted by his other “transcripts” ON HIS OWN WEBSITE.

Just compare Obama's statement on the Libya attacks 9/11/2012 to Bush's statement on 9/11/2001. George W. Bush the night of 9/11/01 - where Bush immediately calls the TERRORIST acts "evil and despicable...acts of mass murder," He states "today our nation saw evil..." And he tries to reassure Americans of the steps the government was taking, and that we stand with all the world in the "War against terrorism." Clearly attributing 9/11/01 attacks to the terrorists who hate this country.

Since Obama took office..the use of the word "Terrorist" has been deemed to be politically incorrect by his administration. This led to Obama's complete omission of that word in his first statement. It is obvious that Obama and his staff were determined not to use that word in his FIRST statement to the world about Benghazi.

So, compare the two:

On 9/12/12 regarding Benghazi Obama was unemotional, disengaged and trying very hard to appear concerned. It was hard to even hear some of his words as they were muted and he continually looked down at his notes and not at the cameras. His heart just was not in what he was saying.

Beside the obvious and much discussed omission of the words "terrorist" or "terrorist attacks" (even when referring to the 9/11/2001 massacre on our own soil), I found it interesting that Obama mentioned "...when we learned of these attacks LAST NIGHT."

So, was he actually informed of them at night, and then went to bed or back to bed, or what? Other articles I have read stated that he was not told until the morning of 9/12. Since then new reports indicate that some in the State Dept. actually were watching the attacks while they were taking place. I am confused. Can anyone clear up these points? Will we ever know who knew what and when?

” - - - we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence - - - “

“We must all - ?” That should be “I always - .”

BTW, is the phrase “the kind of senseless violence” Obamacode for “I have no idea what I am doing with my Foreign Policy?”

Obama’s impression of what Obama thinks Comedian Flip Wilson would have said and done as pOTUS is really inappropriate.

I am surprised noone has done this, but I will.

Here is something from FDR (Not everyone’s favorite on FR), but he did well sometimes. The first part of “Infamy Speech”. Now contrast that to obama’s whimpy flat footy, double speak he has constantly used regarding Libya. Notice he called it exactly what it was.

“Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation, and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And, while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.
....................................I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.”

If Romney wants a home run Monday he needs to ask just what he meant by that and not let him off.
