I found it easy to play after rehearsing it for about a half hour. Had the piano at the Tea Party meeting site been up to the challenge, I would have played it to start the meeting right after the pledge of allegiance.

Among the encore pieces of Sergei Rachmaninov were arrangements of orchestral pieces that would give him a chance to show off his technique.

Rimsky-Korsakov: “Flight of the Bumble Bee” (Kissin on piano)

This arrangement makes a single piano sound like an entire orchestra.

Mendelssohn: Scherzo from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Rachmaninov on piano via RCA Victor recording, 1933)

His partial arrangement of Bach’s Partita #3 for Violin is amazing.

Bach: 2 Movements from Partita #3 in E (Rachmaninov on piano via RCA Victor recording, 1934)
