PLEASANT HILL -- A gay teenager denied his Eagle Scout award because of his sexuality turned in an online petition with more than 400,000 signatures Wednesday urging the National Boy Scouts of America to change its policies against allowing gay members.
Ryan Andresen of Moraga marched into the front office of the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council on Ellinwood Way along with his parents and a former member of the same Boy Scout troop who came out as gay two weeks ago. Assemblymember Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, also attended and presented Andresen with a resolution honoring his achievements with the Boy Scouts.
"It went about as expected," the 18-year-old said of the meeting with Alan T. Young, the program director for the Council, which oversees Andresen's troop. "I did get a chance to ask what I wanted. I didn't choose my sexuality, just like he didn't choose his. So I asked what made me any less adequate than him. He didn't answer. That says a lot."
Andresen collected 410,564 signatures on an online petition his mother, Karen, posted on Change.org after her son, a student at Maybeck High School in Berkeley, was denied Eagle Scout status after revealing he is gay. Young did not address the media directly, but his office issued a statement that said Andresen was denied his Eagle Scout status because "he does not subscribe to (Boy Scouts') Declaration of Religious Principle' and does not meet Scouting's membership

Call it anything you want....the kid is solicitating for homos.
A Boy Scout is Clean and Articulate.
Why don’t homosexuals establish their own organizations instead of trying to soil traditional ones? They are trying to force their perversion on normal people at every opportunity.
Note he is not petitioning to get his award, but to open the door for homosexuality in the boy scouts. Evil to the core...
Ironically enough (or perversely enough), this is happening at the same time as BSA is being dumped on for the “perversion files”.
The homosexuals argue that not all homosexuals are pedophiles. That’s true — but, it’s also true that all male on male pedophiles are homosexual men.
There is no good reason for the BSA to change their policy
I wonder who his mentor was, you know, the guy that convinced the kid he was a homosexual..........
5% of scouts attain Eagle Scout status. It takes, on average, 4.5 years to earn it. The average age upon award is 15.5 years. My understanding is that the cutoff age is 18. If you are that age aren’t we talking about mixing foxes with chickens, especially if the fox is thinking he’s gay? The assumption is that a “clean” scout is celibate. Methinks this young man needs to put away childish things and move on.
Maybe he collected the 400,000 signatures to get a merit badge.../s
Sorry not willing to let young boys go out into the woods alone away from their family with other gay scout leaders or boy scouts. I wonder if NAMBLA is working behind the scenes to make this happen. It would give them access to young boys if the members applied to be scout leaders. I know its even sickening to even go there but in this day and age nothing surprises me anymore.
Too bad. Either you and your mom want to brag about how you like to play in poop with your sick perversions or you can work toward a noble goal.
You can have your crap and eat it too, but not as a Scout.
I say go ahead and give him his damn Eagle Scout designation but not change any of the policies about admitting them. If they give it to him and it’s not enough then we will know his true agenda
I earned my Eagle Scout at 12 in 1963; exception waiver given by Hon Pres, JFK, on Nov 20th, 2 days before he was assassinated. I still carry my dated, laminated BSA Eagle wallet card, and have my ES Certificate, God & Country, Order of The Arrow Certs in my office.
Let the homo/pervert kid join something else; the BSA is a private organization and can refuse membership. Screw the United Way etc funds; we can fund it independently and preserve the morals I pledged to, in my Eagle Ceremony.
And yes, I earned my Eagle rank back in 1976.
Why dont homosexuals establish their own organizations instead of trying to soil traditional ones? They are trying to force their perversion on normal people at every opportunity.
Your second sentence answered the first. It’s about recruiting
I agree with you....We never hear about what is likely “statutory rape”.
Oh for Heaven’s sake....here we go again with one more Communist step.....get rid of morals along with religion. Lets have names of his supporters....Leave this BSA troop alone.....form your own group and do as you wish...adequate has nothing to do with it.
They understand that it’s easy to get what they want by redefining the language involved. Thus “Morally Straight” becomes “Gay is a moral choice and you are a homophobe bigot for claiming anything contrary”.
The MSM rants and raves endlessly, fence sitters capitulate to stop hearing the whining and the definition of morality is sacrificed on the PC altar.
Once Gay is propagandized sufficiently as a ‘normal’ aspect of what society considers moral, the BSA/ military et all cannot use it as an argument because, as we all know “Gay is a moral choice”.
Sickening, but that’s the way libs work.
I don’t understand why people of his persuasions do not start their own organization and enjoy life as they choose
Because they want to increase their ranks of deviants. If all you’re hanging out with is other queers, you can’t recruit fresh meat
They can't.
He publicly renounces the Scout Oath and Law. If they give him an Eagle Badge - in fact, if they don't kick him .out - they are flushing the whole organization down the toilet.
He is not qualified to be an Eagle Scout, by his own words.
At least, he’s petitioning instead of denouncing or suing.
It ain’t gonna happen kid.
I earned mine in ‘78...signed by Jimmah Caarta.
My son’s is signed by ... Barry Soetoro ;-).
That’ll come next, right after National telss him NO.
That’ll come next, right after National tells him NO.
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
Stories such as this never mention when the kid had his first homosexual encounter that convinced him he was homosexual. Nor do they mention that the likelyhood of that first encounter was with a homosexual adult........They are mentored, pure and simple.
I would say the gays have already gotten more than they have a right to expect from the white hetero guilt train, but it’s up to the moderator whether I have the right to say it.
As a side note, how many of the Jerry Sandusky victims who came forward to testify against him are now homosexuals?
They will say that they don’t want to force the Boy Scouts to change out of one side of their face and then ask them to do exactly the opposite.
When I was a Boy Scout, we never had these issues. No one cared, but then again, no one would come out and say they were a flamer either.
Look weenie-boy;
Unless you've been on another planet for the last week, you should damn-well know, from the news, that we've had more than enough experience with you disease-ridden, boy-raping whackjobs.
We're all set here, take your crazy talk somewhere else.
I’ve seen all the Scouts in your brood, and I think it’s fantastic!
I figured long ago, it matters not the signators on your certificate...what does matter is keeping the motivation, and work ethic that drove you to earn it.
Congrats to your wonderful son!
Just ask the kid “How do we know you’re gay?”

...........................................................
Kinda makes me wonder if Ryan helped this other kid come out. That’s why Scouts do not need young perverts in their ranks..
Here is the center of his flawed logic. Nobody is asking him to lie about who he is - he can be a person who suffers from same-sex attraction, and it may in fact be something with a physiological root. However, having same-sex attraction does not imply that one must identify as "homosexual" or embrace the "gay" lifestyle. That is the part that goes against the ideals of Scouting.
The best witness that he can give to the ideals of Scouting is the same as I would say that a Christian with SSA can give: embrace a celibate lifestyle instead of the gay lifestyle. There are groups like Courage to help support people as they struggle to build the habits to live chastely.
please love me, i’m a butt pirate, please accept me and tell me i’m wonderful and great just the way i am. also by doing so you’ll admit you’ve been wrong all along.
Joining is voluntary.
If you don’t like the rules of the organization, go to another organization.
Also, let’s just enjoy the irony or hypocrisy that homosexuals are pushing to loosen the rules of perverts in the BSA in the same week that the BSA files of abuse are released to the public.
Homosexuals target boys who are troubled. They’ve been known to hang around them for years before making an overt move. Studies show that homosexuals targeting boys is the norm among them. So I think pin pointing a first homosexual encounter wouldn’t be possible.
He can’t be an Eagle but it seems to me he is qualified to be a Bluebird.
Yes, CNN was trashing the scouts hard because of those files.
Wonder how many lives they plan to ruin.
Bill’s a heck of a Scout ;-). #2 son will have his Eagle project underway before the end of this year, and then we have a long break because the next son is only 10 (Webelos 2, “Ice Dragons Patrol”).
Boy Scouts is a great organization for the whole family. We only wish that, as in most countries, boys and girls did parallel programs within the same organization. Practically everyone I know with Girl Scouts experience would like to have Packs or Troops of girls doing the same program as the boys!
No
You do choose your behavior though.
Very interesting since I had a similar experience when I was 15......I'll relay it when I have more time.
