If Elena Kagan was not a woman, she may not be sitting on the country's highest judicial bench, the Supreme Court justice told an audience at the University of Tennessee on Friday.
The candid statement came early in an hourlong conversation-style presentation Kagan held Friday in the Cox Auditorium in the Alumni Memorial Building, where she also discussed the strategy of deciding the country's top cases and her affinity for hunting with fellow Justice Antonin Scalia.
While seated in padded armchairs on stage, Kagan told UT Law Dean Doug Blaze that being a woman in the courtroom comes with some difficulties, but it also comes with opportunities.
"Every woman knows there are some difficulties one confronts that a man might not have to, but nowhere near what my predecessors did," she said. "And to tell you the truth, there were also things I got because I was a woman. I'm not sure I'd be sitting here, I'm not sure I would have been President (Barack) Obama's nominee if I were not a woman and if he wasn't as committed as he was to ensuring there was diversity on the Supreme Court."

Being a woman, a liberal, a homosexual, and being a suck butt sycophant to Barrack Obama, that all helped.
Qualifications: They didn’t matter much.She never argued a case before a court, she opposed military recruitment on her campus, she was a White House Counsel under Clinton, and she has Bona Fied liberal views when Judges should be neutral in their decisions. She is a guaranteed vote for liberals.
Saying “I got this job because I’m a woman” is another way of saying “I wasn’t qualified for this job.”

Gender my a$$, the only qualification necessary for an Obama appointment is that they vote with the liberal block. And if Obama is elected to a second term, he most likely will get another appointment, maybe two. It could be a two-headed Martian as long as it promises to always vote with Ginsberg, Bryer, Sotomayor, and Kagan. And if the court ever gets a complete liberal majority, you will see our Constitution turned upside down and twisted like a pretzel.

I thought it was common knowledge that all presidents try to pack the court with like-minded judges.
If Romney were really smart, after taking office, he would go after oblunders ineligibility to have been president to undo everything he’s done in one fell swoop including Kagan and Sotowhatever her name is.
I agree with Kagan. The Supreme Court needed a younger man to bring some new ideas to the venerable institution.
