As we roll into the final presidential debate, the polls show a very tight race. One thing they don't show, however, is how race is a factor in the election.
By my estimate, you have to build in a three- to five-point slip from the poll numbers for any black candidate on election day. To overcome the slip, you need to pump up the black vote by equal measure.
And that's not easy, because brothers and sisters aren't among the top turnout groups.
In 2008, Barack Obama was able to compensate for the slip and then some. You would have thought it was Nelson Mandela coming out of jail. This time it's not going to be that easy.
If Obama looks as if he's going black, he could turn off white people. So he's largely been lying low on the race issues - visibly pushing for the Latino vote, the gay vote, the women's vote, but not the black vote.
But last weekend, he held a conference call with a collection of black preachers that included his old pastor, Jeremiah Wright. He wanted to talk to them about getting out the vote.

The more people know him, the less they like him. Now he’s trying to make up for that by embracing the radical left separatist hate-America crowd.
It looks like Barry’s campaign slogan is going to be, “G-d D*** America” for the home stretch. Cool!
He’ll get 99.8% of the Black vote.
The difference is those whose welfare payola wasn’t enough will stay home.
We don’t see the Black Nazi Youth singing songs this go-round, do we?
Of the ones that vote, probably. But I do think a lot more will stay home this time. The two biggest get out the vote machines on election day for the democrats, ACORN and Unions, are not out in anywhere the same force they were in 2008.
This is going to hurt him. People know who Wright is today, and they aren’t going to look kindly on Obama associating with him now.

Any Black American that votes for Obama is not wrapped too tight!!! Obama has already set American Black folks adrift at sea and thrown them under the bus!!! Obama is going to lose big time to Mitt Romney. American Blacks will be cutting off their own noses to spite their faces by voting for American hater Barack Hussein “Muslim Brotherhood Adoree” Obama. Best thing Black folk should do....broom Obama into the flush toilet where he so rightfully belongs!!!
Black folks......think long and hard before you vote for Obama. He is not the one for you guys, never was and never will be!!! The only people he cares about is singular, himself!!!
I am in Hillsborough County, one the key counties that will decide Florida. In my community, we have a very active and committed local GOP organization which is really working hard.
My complex has about 350 units, over 800 registered voters. I'm busy knocking on doors, handing out literature,talking to my neighbors most every day.
I'd say that blacks here are about 20% of the residents. It's a middle class community, so you don't have many of the Obamaphone-types here. What I have found is that a good number are not automatic Obama voters. They are willing to listen to me talk about taxes, and government regulation, and even the dangers of Obamacare, and other socailly conservative issues.
In this country as a whole, the good majority of blacks are in the bottom socio-economic class, and these will vote almost 100% for Obama, to the extent that this year they are motivated to vote. Same thing for the upper economic class blacks. They'll probably vote for him with a 95% margin.
But in what we can call the lower-middle class, to middle class black electorate, this group is fertile ground for the GOP. I don't have demographic numbers, but I suspect it might be 25-30% of the total black vote. And I think that more than 50% of that vote can be persuaded to vote GOP....thought not necessarily this election. And a good number of that group who vote for him will do so, despite misgivings, because of racial pride. Otherwise, we could peel away a good number..which would then mean that the GOP could end up with 25% of the total black vote, as opposed to the LESS than 10% that we get now. That would be a huge factor in so many races.
The point being, the GOP has to find a way to appeal to black voters on economic merits, but must target that message to the black lower-middle class...those with aspirations.
Obama needs to rally the base of his base - the election is in two weeks after all! ROFLMAO

If the free phone gambit didn’t do the trick, he can always emulate former Oakland mayor Elihu Harris on election day: Free fried chicken dinners for votes. After all, it’s not like Harris was stereotyping his base, right?
Or maybe free dope.
Maybe GOP ought not pander to the black liberal like Newt did after the contract with America. Quit talking to black liberal Bastions Like NAACP and Jesse Jackson and support Black conservatives.

Bozo didn't even get that, the first time around. Of those blacks who do vote in this election, some are sliding into Romney's column.
There was an article here the other day that featured a poll of black voters in North Carolina (I think), which showed a 9% shift toward voting for Romney.
The GOP always gets something like 5% to 8% of the black vote anyway, and (correct me if I'm wrong) this shift is on top of that. If that holds across the nation, Barry's boat is completely sunk.
