Chuck Todd: Seven-Out-Of-Ten Challengers In Romney's Position Win
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Coming down the stretch of the presidential campaign, it looks like NBC political director Chuck Todd has put getting it right over any personal or network partisan leanings. On Morning Joe today, Todd declared that seven out of ten challengers in Mitt Romney's position in the polls win the election.

In an assessment sure to send shivers down Obama-camp spines, Todd added that "Romney appears to have the advantages going into the next couple of weeks."

Chuckles apparently wants to have a career beyond Nov. 7.

He has seen the real numbers—Chiuck wants to have a sliver of credibility left after the election. Of course, it won’t work The MSM is the house organ of the Communist Party.

Yup, and for a White House correspondent career depends on access.

Chuck's betting that starting 1/20/2013 he's going to have to go through President Romney's press office in order to get his scoops.

interestingly he’s referring to the tie 47-47 in the nbc/wsj poll when he makes that comment. I figured he would be talking about the gallup numbers.

Most Demoncrats and a few Republicans believe that lying, cheating and stealing is a perfectly normal political strategy. E.g., Benghazi, Joe Kennedy buying John the presidency, FDR's attempts and successes to usurp the constitution, stack the supreme court - and on and on.

I pray that the RNC is vigilant in preventing the Rats from stealing this election. Also, get ready for an October surprise from the lying cheats!!

In the spirit of Edmund Burke - I believe our biggest problem has been that Congress has abdicated much of its role to the courts and executive and the States have willingly abdicated their power to the federal government. If we could fix these two things, we would be much closer to the government intended by our founders.

God knows we need a Congress that will start charging treason against members in every branch of government - especially the courts. God knows we need to impeach and imprison a lot of folks.

An incumbent tied and under 50% is going to have a very hard time pulling it out on election day. Even the most Dem friendly polls don't look good for Obama. Gallup, while probably overstating Romney's edge, has to send chills up their spines.

Undecideds will break 80-20 for the challenger. Even in years where the challenger gets beaten like a drum. Usually around 2% vote third party. So if you forced the people in a 47-47 to take sides you would end up with 50-48-2 or just about where Rasmussen has it. Not the blowout I would like to see, but still enough of a win to make cheating Obama into office obvious.

I don’t trust Todd and question whether his motive is to spark some enthusiasm on the dem side. Curious what Rino Joe said after hearing this?

If a liberal, socialist, communist, terrorist loving and supporting Kenyan loses Chuck Todd he’s done.

7 out of 10 seems low. The thing that gets me is how does Obama expect to overcome the deficit among independents? No incumbent, to the best of my knowledge, has won pulling only 43% or so of the independent vote. He needs to be closer to 50%. He’d have to have another 2008 year, with Dems outnumbering Repubs by a lot. I don’t know what the turnout will be this year, but if there’s more Dems and Repubs, I’d expect it be just a smidge more, not enough to overcome the deficit among indies.

Also, undecideds tend to vote for the challenger, so the indie picture is likely to get worse, not better. Maybe the 7 out of 10 statement is due to the fact that sometime indies break for the incumbent(?) In 2000, due to the last second DUI story, they broke unexpectedly for God, a pseudo-incumbent, making what looked to be an easy victory one of the close elections in history.
