After reading the article again: Is this article satire? The whole first paragraph is a mess and/or is one huge lie. Sam Walton is dead, he’s not the chairman of anything, and he certainly isn’t giving anyone $1 million.

Is this an Obama tactic to turn people against Wal-mart?

Wal-Mart is complicit in creating and retaining the dependency classes of people.

Or was this made by Rob Walton’s son?

In addition to being the ‘Son of Sam’ he would be the ‘Grandson of Sam!’

Walmart has been moving left for a number of years in the name of self-preservation. They are squarely in the crosshairs of the Greenie Weenies and the unions. So they have been doing a slow-motion cave. (that’s why I hate shopping at my new green Walmart, the lighting is too dim to read labels half the time).

We all know minimum wage employees blow time card punches all the time. A Liberal administration that really wanted to zap them could go into any store and find dozens of instances of “wage theft”, fining them out of business in the process. So they pull out all the stops to stay on the good side of the Dems. I half expect them to voluntarily accept a union one of these days.

I suspect the contributor is Sam R. Walton, Rob Walton's son who apparently has a different political orientation than his Daddy and has no connection to WalMart other than his name.

Yup, suspect you are correct. Looks like this Sam is a greenie, a Gore Warmer etc. Apparently not a ‘chip off the old block’.

>>>”1. Obamugabe is a pansy when it comes to standing up against China, and China is a big source of inventory for Wal-Mart. If Obamugabe played tough with China, China might “punish” Wal-Mart by slowing down their product distribution.”

Tariffs on less costly foreign goods don’t work and never have. The only victims of such economic punishment would be those who shop at Wal-Mart, whose costs of providing for their families would then rise.

>>>>”2. Obamugabe hates capitalism, but most of his hatred, for now, is targeted toward SMALL businesses...and Wal-Mart is likely big enough and rich enough to weather four more years. Besides, if small businesses in America are strangled to death by Obamugabe, Wal-Mart can more easily get a bigger share of the market. “

Bingo. The thing that Big Business fears most of all is the free market: they love capitalism when they themselves were struggling to become Big; once they succeed, however, they fear competition from upstarts who want to knock them off their perch. It’s much easier for Big Business to be a crony to Big Government than it is to compete constantly in the free market.

That’s why big, established businesses often lobby in favor of government regulation in their own industries; it imposes an economic hurdle that smaller, more innovative, upstart businesses cannot pass.

IIRC, HILLARY CLINTON is a board member of WALMART.

Sam’s family didn’t want to run the business, just spend the money, so they turned it over to a pack of MBA’s. This is some of the expected results.

And what former President's WIFE, who is now Secretary of State, is on the board of WALMART ?

I think you are correct; grandson, not son and WalMart chairman, of founder Sam Walton most likely made the donation but its expecting too much of the AP to get something right that a sharp-eyed FReeper can.

Rob Walton (son) is the chairman. His full name is Samuel Robert Walton, so I guess the reporter could call him Sam.
