Piedmont High School students involved in ‘Fantasy Slut League’

Some Piedmont High School students have been involved in a “Fantasy Slut League” in which male athletes “draft” female students and earn points for sexual encounters with them, school officials have told parents. The league has been in existence for 5 or 6 years but only came to school officials’ attention several weeks ago, according to a letter Piedmont High School Principal Rich Kitchens sent out to families Friday. In discussions following a date-rape awareness assembly on Oct. 3, students brought the league to the attention of officials, who then followed up with an investigation. “It has been reported that students on some of our Varsity Teams have set up a ‘Fantasy Slut League’ in which our female students (unbeknownst to most of them) are drafted as part of the league,” Kitchens wrote in the letter. “Male students earn points for documented engagement in sexual activities with female students.” The school is not planning to discipline the students involved, said Randall Booker, an assistant superintendent of educational services, nor would he discuss how many students might have been involved. “Our focus really isn’t pinpointing the who or the details,” he said. “Our focus is really about having this continued conversations with kids, getting them to feel comfortable, getting them to learn why this is disrespectful, inappropriate.” The letter was not originally intended for an audience beyond parents and families of the high school, Booker said. The league has existed as “part of ‘bonding’ for some Varsity Teams during their seasons of sport,” the letter said. Many students, both male and female, were aware of the league and participated, either willingly or under pressure from older students or under social pressures to be popular, the letter said.p>

Thank goodness they weren’t doing something completely reckless like a Bible study!

No discipline? In California? Maybe it will fall into the ocean.

“Our focus is really about having this continued conversations with kids, getting them to feel comfortable....”

If I were king, this principal would be hanged in the public square, the boys flogged, and the girls forced to wear a scarlet letter for awhile.

That would have resulted in suspensions.

Unless they were scoring on campus, I don’t see how this is any of the school’s business.

This has been happening for years and suddenly it was just found out? What happened?

This being San Fransicko, I'm guessing some fruit was pissed off that HE didn't make the fantasy slut league. Guess it isn't so normal and natural after all.

When I was in high school it was all about R & R and getting high. Now high school is a brothel.

Yup, way back in the 5th season (1995).

The sad thing is, these sorts of rings have been around for quite a while, albeit usually more informally than the one in this story or the L&O episode. My junior year in high school, the freshman cheerleader class was comprised of exceptionally pretty girls. It became kind of a competition for guys on the football team to try to score with as many of them as possible. More recently, there was a story about a fraternity house or system out east (I wanna say Duke, but I’m not sure) where incoming freshman girls were looked up in the student register as “fresh meat” and especially pretty girls were singled out for conquest.

As if that hasn't been going on since caveman times. Another non-shocker is the school officials were supposedly clueless until a parent made them acknowledge it. But as has been said, unless it happens on campus it shouldn't be the school's business.

I don’t know why the school is so shocked. We have removed any sense of morality in schools. I bet you that this very high school has a bowl of condoms sitting on a desk in the guidance office. Homosexuality is taught as “equal” and preferred. Abortion is discussed at the same level as having your teeth cleaned. So, the students actually practice what they have learned from a godless society... a society that would cringe at a student wearing a shirt with a cross on it but applauds when a transy is nominated as the Homecoming Queen. Just my two cents.

This sort of behavior has been going on for years, which doesn’t make it less disgusting.

Why would you flog the boys and not the girls? And why would you make the girls wear a scarlet letter and not the boys?

Because I'm old-fashioned, and think that the boys are the “bad” ones and are the instigators of it and deserve the harsher punishment. The girls also need to be punished, and feel some shame for their behavior. And that sleeping around will not make them “popular”. (Well, at least popular in a good way). The girls are already labeled - they may as well know it and acknowledge that everyone else knows it. And maybe there parents will buy a clue.
