Hinckley, Whitehouse battle it out during first debate

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Meeting for their first debate, U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and Republican challenger Benjamin B. "Barry" Hinckley jousted Tuesday over a long list of topics that included the economy, foreign policy and education.

The candidates were cordial but direct during the one-hour encounter, each questioning the other's statements as they maintained a respectful tone.

Hinckley, borrowing a line that Democrats often use on House Republicans, said liberals such as Whitehouse have shut down debate in the Senate.

Whitehouse said Hinckley favors policies that would change social security and turn Medicare "into a voucher system."

More than 300 people atttended the debate, held at Rhode Island College's Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts.

Folks, this could be the sleeper race for control of the Senate, especially as the dynamic shifts with the Obama campaign's collapse.

Hinckley had closed to within 9 points before the debate, and I expect him to get a bounce this morning, as the debate was carried live by the largest news station in RI.

Hinckley is a small businessman - one of his best lines was "I've signed over 15,000 paychecks - I know what goes into each one. Sheldon Whitehouse only knows what comes out of them."

Sheldon is one of the most liberal senators in Washington, and has voted with Dem leadership 96% of the time. He has supported every radical bill and unconstitutional act, including Obamacare, Stimulus, Dodd-Frank, Fast and Furious, etc. You can see his nasty attacks against the Tea Party from the Senate well online.

Hinckley is not a perfect candidate; for one thing, he announced he is pro-gay during the debate. He has declared himself as wanting to be like Scott Brown, acting independently as necessary. He did not like much of what happened under Pres. Bush and said he had dropped his Republican Party membership for 8 yrs. because of it.

That being said, his election would be a bombshell, in the same way that Scott Brown's was in neighboring MA; RI politics have been dominated for the last generation by Democrats at the local, state, and federal level, which explains why the state is an economic basket case and is a bellwether for the country if we continue to let the Dems implement their ruinous policies.

If you have time to help, please contact his campaign at www.hinckleyforsenate.com. If you can contribute dollars, please do so at the web site to help him take advantage of a post-election bounce. If you live in RI, put up a lawn sign and encourage your neighbors to do so, as well.

Sheldon is the poster child for the Dems' most-radical wing. Helping Hinckley is a twofer - a real chance to unseat a radical leftist before he is ensconced permanently, and forcing a bankrupt national Dem party to spend resources defending a seat they thought was secure.

PLEASE HELP ANY WAY YOU CAN!! THANK YOU!!

So, if Whitehouse should run and win the presidency, would we have reports from the “Whitehouse Whitehouse?”

Just sayin’.
