Former Secretary of State Colin Powell Endorses Obama (See what happens with AA?)

Former Republican Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed President Barack Obama for a second term Thursday, telling “CBS This Morning” that he voted for Obama in 2008 but this time was going further and publicly backing him.

“We’ve come out of the dive and we’re starting to gain altitude,” Powell said. “The unemployment rate is too high, people are still hurting in housing, but I see that we’re starting to rise up.”

Powell said that when Obama took over “the country was in very, very difficult straits. We were in the one of the worst recessions we had seen in recent times, close to a depression.”

“The fiscal system was collapsing: Wall Street was in chaos, we had 800,000 jobs lost in that first month of the Obama administration,” he said. “Unemployment peaked at 10 percent, so we were in real trouble. The auto industry was collapsing, housing was started to collapse, and we were in very difficult straits.

“And I saw over the next several years stabilization come back in the financial community,” Powell added. “Housing is now starting to come back after four years; it's starting to pick up. Consumer confidence is rising."

The four-star general also said that Obama “got us out of one war, started to get us out of a second war, and did not get us into any new wars.”

“The actions he has taken in respect to protecting us from terrorism have been very solid,” Powell said. “We ought to keep on the track we are on.”

Powell served as secretary of state during George W. Bush’s first term. He was also national security advisor in the last years of the Reagan administration and chairman of the joint chiefs of staff from 1989-1993.

As I have said before, anyone who votes for Obama this year after watching him the past 4 years should take a mandatory citizenship test and, if failed, be stripped of citizenship and deported.

This means you too General Powell.

One thing a racist knows .....is another racist. Just ask me. It doesn’t mean we don’t love the people we are racist against but when push comes to shove there is always a trust issue.

So is Powell now officially a former Republican, or is the headline writer just sloppy?

One Affirmative Action hire votes for another. Could the Republican Party officially ban his use of their label? He’s a Black Democrat who uses this GOP label to curry favor with Obama’s presstitutes, who incessantly point to it as a sign of Obama’s “bipartisan” support.

Rather depressing to see a hero with such a strong legacy self-destruct like this. He unintellectually bypasses Obama’s actual record for phony DNC talking points. His legacy will be forever be tainted by this lack of judgment.

Yes, and has been. He should man up and admit he is a black, racist democrat and get it over with.

Colin Powell, one of President Bush's biggest mistakes, long ago lost all credibility with many Americans. He's clearly abandoned his sense of patriotism as well as common sense and willingly drank the liberal Kool Aid. In the process, allowing race to trump what a rational person would see as a disastrous Obama presidency that has done great harm to our beloved county.

Powell tries to put a happy face on a tanking economy that Obama will finish off with another term unfettered by the need for job approval ratings or popularity. Obama knows full well that people such as Colin Powell will excuse whatever damage he does and the media will never cease covering for him. Fortunately, Mitt Romney will likely defeat Obama on November 6th, keeping Colin Powell as irrelevant as he has been for many years.

“One Affirmative Action hire votes for another.”

Beat me to it!
This Guy is not a hero, hasn’t ever done anything to merit being a General.

In my dream of a suddenly perfect world either Thomas Sowell or Walter E. Williams or both would take this senile racist to the wood shed, publicly. However, being true gentlemen, they would not be able to give him the correction he and his ilk really need.

Affirmative Action , better than drugs and alcoholism at destroying a person and all around him.

Enabling behavior occurs when another person, often a codependent, helps or encourages the addict to continue using drugs, either directly or indirectly. Examples of individuals involved in enabling behavior are a spouse hiding the addict’s disease from neighbors or their children by lying for the addict and a so-called “friend” giving the addict money to buy drugs.

Storm'n Norman won the war that our media gave this useful idiot the credit for. Powell wanted to do a frontal assault on a defense in depth but 'George the Senior' had enough smarts to over rule him and go with Norman's right feint and left hook.
