JAY LENO: When you help your daughters with their homework, is there a subject you struggle with? PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, the math stuff I was fine with up until 7th grade. But Malia is now a freshman in High School and I'm pretty lost. It's tough. Fortunately, they are great students on their own. And if something doesn't work I'll call over to the Department of Energy to see if they have a physicist to come over!

Surprising that he would admit this. I wonder if he’s laying the groundwork for releasing his college transcripts or something.
Not surprising, really.
SO MANY JOKES
Considering how he’s handled the economy makes me think he couldn’t pass 2nd grade math
“10,000 people killed in a Kansas tornado”
16,000,000,000,000 dollar debt (goes on Letterman and can’t recall)
0 Senators voted for his “budgets”
$4 million spent to keep his embarrassing college transcripts hidden.
Sounds about right. This guy is not smarter than a 7th grader.
He don't talk none too good neither. But he rolls a mean number.
Actually...some of us are not math people. I can’t play pool unless my husband points at the ball and the shot.
I lost my kid in sixth grade math.. but the way that math is taught now is non sensical. My school went with new math in the early 70’s... I was toast.
Not that I am sympathizing with this dirtbag... I did Minor in Economics and had a great GPA. Lemme tell ya this dweeb couldn’t pass Econ 101... Paul Samuelson..still have the text.
More like 86.
Actually, Obambi is like a 186 chip in a Pentium world.
He is a Commodore 64 in a Cray Supercomputer world.
Did you see him trying to vote for himself today? He needed one of the poll workers to come over and help him. It was pretty ridiculous.
Millions of dollars to keep stuff hidden proves there is some big money behind him. And of course, big dummies that vote for him.
I’m just sayin’ nobody can twist up a digit like The Bomber. Hey dude let’s, like, get bombed.
Wanna do up some Pakistani hash? How about some opium, right out of Afghanistan? Got some Lebanese right here.
Phhhhhhhhhhhhhht...........Like wow man!
Typo correction : “ so does that mean Obama got it all wrong by falsely accusing Romney with the $ 1 Trillion meme ? “
Doobie? What the hell does “a doobie” have to to with math?
With the intellect ability that he has , and yet he can’t see the consequence of his actions ?
Proud2BeRight:” He’s the dumbest person to ever hold the White House. He has one ability; read a speech well. Period.”
Perhaps his speech writer should be running for President, instead ?
Who slipped in the 1, it’s more like 86 or below!!!
“My school went with new math in the early 70s... I was toast.”
My late life sister in law got hit with that “new math” and we were baby sity with her and I helped her with it.
You have to know all forms of math to decipher it, they take them and toss them in a bag, shake and hope the parents can’t help the kid!!!!
I finally told her to seperate the problem into sections solve it and after she has the answer go back and write it in terms that the teacher would accept!!!
I can see no purpose for it other than to make sure that parents can’t help the student!!!!
He’s lost with 7th grade math - and he’s in charge of the American economy? Not good. Hopefully he doesn’t have to worry about it after November 6th.
Just wait until she has to take a microeconomics or macroeconomics class. He’ll REALLY be lost then.
Picking and choosing fr-freak?
I can certainly write a sentence, and I was a spelling bee champ.
He couldn't find "present" on the ballot.
And he’s talking about Mitt Romney’s math not adding up! Compare the knowledge of these two men when it comes to numbers and business. No contest! It’s a joke!
There is much more to intelligence than math ability.
I know some brilliant people that have no clue about mathematics. Never base an estimate of intelligence solely on math ability. (Carter was a nuclear engineer)
That said, Obama is an idiot.
Almost anybody can learn math if they need or want to. Really great books/teachers can make it easy.
Bar none the best Calculus text is “Calculus Made Easy” by Thompson and Gardner. published in 1910
Math is a subject where your ability to advance depends entirely on how well you understand your fundamentals. You cannot just jump in the deep end and expect to swim. You start at the very beginning and work step by step.
and on and on.
Maybe he's slowly preparing us for what to expect for when he accepts Donald Trump's $5 Million Charity Challenge.
Is donating to ones own campaign considered a charity?
Yep - liberals are stuck in Junior High mentally, emotionally, and psychologically. And this guy lies, saying Romney’s numbers do not add up? Hm...no wonder...
Okay, Pres. Transparent, unseal your records.
who has that IQ?
In the first debate how many times did Barack Hussein say. “It’s all about mathematics” It seemed like he said it five or six times. Every time he said it I was thinking maybe Romney knows a little more about math especially when it comes to counting money. When I grow up I want to be just like Romney RICH!
They have tried to revisit this atrocity several times over the decades, as "conceptual math," and various other educationist approaches under new names. They could've done less damage to the country with a nuclear bomb or two; we now have several lost generations of kids.
Truly educated people need to understand algebra, geometry, trig, and at least some concepts from Calculus. I don't believe you can claim to be an educated person if you don't. In the 1970's, even liberal arts curricula required one Calculus course; algebra and trigonometry -- even in humanities were considered remedial -- for a BA/BS and did not qualify.
Now colleges are talking about dropping math requirements altogether. It's a mistake. There's no such thing as someone who can't do math. There are just bad teachers and bad methodologies.
At this point, they’re going after the Knucklehead vote...
Carter was NOT a nuclear engineer. http://seekerblog.com/2009/08/27/resume-inflation-how-a-peanut-farmer-became-a-nuclear-engineer/
I think you forgot a decimal place. IQ 18.6 maybe, on a good day.
I did it because I overcame my math obtusity and recognized the value of my analytical brain to overcome that. I can read graphs, charts, can add and subtract in my head, but I do not possess a theoretical/geometric component, doesn’t make me stupid.
Thanks for setting me straight!
I always knew Carter was an idiot. The idea that he was an engineer always made me feel cheap somehow ;-)
Being uneducated isn’t the same thing as being “stupid.” But I don’t know how you can do optimization — which is one of the most basic tools in economics — without differential Calculus.
Oh yeah, can you type a paragraph in the dark with only one typographical error? ‘Cause I can.
Calculus? He probably doesn’t even know algebra.
To be fair, though, Carter said "nucular" all the time. Probably more than GW Bush.
Maybe he was a "nucular" engineer. That way nobody could accuse him of lying.
Samuelson was a dweeb, too. Won the Nobel Prize, too.
Samuelson was a quack, earning royalties for filling American undergraduate heads with mush.
Left out the decimal point. It is 18.6.
