Not that anyone in California would be allowed by law to pollute the environment with such a behemoth of a vehicle, but one garage near AT&T Park in San Francisco was charging "Full Size" SUVs and trucks $130 to park for Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night. Hummers get no breaks, you know? But, if you drive a "compact SUV" or a "Minivan," it'll cost you only a cool hundred. It's 90 bucks for a car the size of a Prius or a '69 Dodge Dart. No word on what it'd cost to stunt park your Bullitt Mustang.
A few readers have pointed out that, because the games start at 5 p.m. San Francisco time, many of the garages still are busy with the cars of working commuters. That will reduce the number of available spaces. Plus, the garage owners probably figure that if World Series tickets cost more than lesser playoff tickets or, surely, regular-season tickets, then why not up-charge to park?

The vultures are on high alert.
I’ll be watching on TV. If my car wants to go, it can buy its own ticket.
The free market at work.
You’d have to be an idiot to want to drive down there right now.
Lib politics are only partly to blame, space in SF is precious because it is a peninsula, there is no more land, and with earthquakes being a “when” not an “if”, the cost of building UP is incredible.
Plus we always take the ferry from Tiburon... straight to the park, easy, quick (compared to driving).
Love AT&T park, though.
...or a 69 Dodge Dart.
My dad had a 1969 Dart. He let me drive it after I got my license in 1974. Good car with a slant 6, 225 CI motor.
I have ticket stubs that my father had for the 1959 Dodgers World Series. The ticket was 5 dollars and my guess that parking was .75.
My brother in law works for Compuware in Detroit so we park in a nice secure parking garage for free.
My wife and daughter went to a Giants game four weeks ago and paid $50 a day to park the car in the south of Market Hotel garage...
That valet parking sign is in front of Momo’s restaurant. If you’re ever at AT&T Park, be sure to eat there — food is great. Sunday brunch on the patio (with the umbrellas) is very fine on a warm sunny summer day.
Love AT&T park, though. It's absolutely beautiful and first class to boot.
My daughter took me to the game the night before Cain's perfect game. We parked across from McCovey Cove and it was $30 then (June).
Would I pay $130.00 to park in a garage across the street to see the Giants in the World Series at ATT?...probably.
BTW, the night we were there Bummgarner (sp?)hit a home run into the left field bleachers and Brandon Belt hit one that bounced off the walkway at the cove (not a splash hit)...Also, the Giants had more than 13 strike outs that night, I know because we got a free package of Brats from Safeway.
Thanks to my daughter I picked a good year to be a Giants fan.
It costs nothing to park a Volt because it ‘s battery ran down in traffic to the stadium
