Let them eat food stamps

s the number of unemployed, underemployed soared, as record numbers of people joined the ever easy route to purchasing food with food stamps, President Barack (D) and Michelle Obama (D) felt their pain as only true Democrats could.

Using other peoples' money, they stimulated the economy by tossing tax dollars to the favored, mainly themselves, hosting ever extravagant dinners and events for international visitors Richard Pollock charges in the Washington Examiner.

Sure, inviting visiting international heads of state over to the (taxpayer supported) house or to a fine dining establishment for an elegant dinner is a legitimate business expense, as is hosting celebrities or business powerhouses.

After traveling so far, the honored guests probably expect more than the little lady's green bean casserole or grilled burgers or even Michelle Obama's so called healthy 700 calorie lunch imposed on students qualifying for a free high school meal, but for a president who scolded private businesses for conducting lavish conventions in say, Las Vegas, (taxpayer supported government ones are just fine though) this practice seems a bit er...hypocritical.

The president talked about sacrifice in his inauguration speech. What he meant was that we would have to sacrifice, but the Obamas and their supporters could just live it up on our dime.

The Obamas are pigs. Even lower than pigs. Pigs have more class.

There are no more food stamps. They were never stamps. They were coupons. Now it’s electronic impulses on cards, representing money that’s taken from our paychecks and transferred to the cards so the recipients keep voting democrat

This is a different time. I interview people for a living and we discuss stamp usage. Most are disgusted they have to be on them, but also feel like they worked for x number of years and will get back what they paid into for so long to keep their kids from going hungry. And more often than not, they do not want Obama back (they can’t help but express it in conversation when touchy subject of economy comes up) because they want to get OFF stamps. A lot of people would rather make enough money to NOT need them than to struggle in life but “YAY, I GET STAMPS”!

This isn’t the 70’s and 80’s and even most of the 90’s and 2000’s when you got on them because you didn’t want to work harder. This is a different time. “GET A JOB BUM” isn’t a solution for a lot of people.

As the number of unemployed, underemployed soared, as record numbers of people joined the ever easy route to purchasing food with food stamps...

In my current line of work, I've seen just how commonplace food stamp cards are. I've also noticed it's likely the persons you encounter working at your grocery store are using a food stamp card as well.

I observed very, very few are gaming the system--fewer than 10 in 4000 during a given month's time. I'm talking about those buying extravagant items like crab legs, lobster or filet mignon. The rest are buying essentials and relying on store brand and clearance items to their stretch food stamp dollars.

Not surprising. The bulk of new food stamp users are people who have a work history, want to get off welfare and are looking for another job. These are people who can be trusted not to abuse the system.

The abusers are those to whom welfare is a life-style. They know all the dodges...and aren't afraid to use them.
