Miramar fighter jets deployed in secret to Mideast
UT San Diego ^ | Oct. 26, 2012 | Gretel C. Kovach

Posted on 10/27/2012 12:19:55 PM PDT by Snuph

Amid mounting concern over Iran’s nuclear program and violence elsewhere in the region, U.S. Central Command quietly dispatched a Marine fighter jet squadron from San Diego to an undisclosed country in the Middle East, U-T San Diego has learned.

The deployment follows threats by the U.S. and Israel of military strikes if needed to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

At the same time, the conflict in Syria is threatening to drag Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan into war, Iraq is beset by renewed violence, and terrorist groups hoping to capitalize on political upheaval in the region covet Syria’s chemical weapons and Libyan arms.

Against this tense geopolitical backdrop, aviation spotters tracked a dozen jets from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314, an F/A-18 Hornet squadron based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, en route in late September through Europe.

The heavily armed jets — capable of firing 2,000-pound laser-guided bombs, cluster munitions, air-to-air missiles and a six-barrel 20 mm gun — are used for a variety of missions, including ground attack, escort, enemy air defense suppression, reconnaissance and close air support of ground forces.

U.S. Central Command and the Marine command in the region declined to say which country the squadron deployed to or to comment in detail on its mission, citing political and security sensitivities of the host nation and its neighbors.

Maybe this is cornball, but looking at the map, the recent Khartoum bombing, blamed on Israel, looks to me like it would be a difficult mission for them. Note that I said difficult, not impossible. But look hoe easy it would be from an aircraft carrier or Harriers from an Amphibious Assault Ship.

Obama's going to do something big and loud to divert attention from Benghazi.

If I were an Iranian nuclear worker, I'd be calling in sick for the next few days.

Yeah, Syria’s chemical weapons after Panetta said we lost track of Syria’s chemical weapons.
http://www.military.com/daily-news/2012/09/28/us-intel-lost-track-of-syrian-chemical-weapons.html

Yep, we lost track of those Syrian chemical weapons after we lost track of Libyan chemical weapons and after we had dead Americans.

Certainly the British are pissed with us— their weapons were put in the hands of rebels after we failed to secure our consulate after the Benghazi attack.

Who in the world can really trust us now, other than enemies of the West?

Obama’s going to bomb a few huts in Libya and claim we got the masterminds behind the Benghazi attack. The successful mission will be announced on Sunday afternoon, November 4. Of course, no one will have any way to check whether we got them or not.

This is all Obama has left to save his presidency.

It is generally believed people will not change an administration in the midst of a war. Obama’s last ditch effort to save his presidency is to get involved in a war with Iran before November 6th.

Possible?? Probable??

And I would hope most of the American voters would not fall for such a transparent last minute ditch effort.

Result; Obama defeated, mission proved to be failure, symbolic of his entire administration.

And his legacy is dishonesty, incompetence, failure on all fronts.

It is generally believed people will not change an administration in the midst of a war.

That would apparently require people who have already decided against Obama to switch back and vote for him. I think that maxim only applies if the war has been going on for a while or the President is named Roosevelt. :)

I can’t say I put much faith in Romneys politics. If that is what we are counting on—I think we are flocked. He really isn’t very much better than Obama.

I do however trust God. I am not a church sort but I believe not much happens into a decent mans mind that isn’t gifted by our Creator.

No matter all the crazy things I have read about Mormons, I almost hope half of it is true. Especially the part about Mormons believing a Mormon will save the US.

If that is their belief, I pray Romney is a hard-line Mormon. God put that belief there for a reason, I can believe that.

I will now trust the bible I love and believe—God tells us what happens, the truth.

I pray that Romney is a true believing Mormon and he follows his faith first, if that is so, Romney is our door-stop. A tool of God.

This country is Judeo-Christian and God will not fail us. We need something to slow the avalanche and I believe with all my heart this Mormon is the bridge we must cross and try to understand.

We will be a faithful Judeo-Christian nation again.

All over the news in San Diego yesterday. The news would always say “secret mission” - hmmmmmm I think we should be ready for the huts in Libya going down.

Don’t think it’s going to work - it’s too obvious.

Pray for America.

...Panetta said we lost track of Syria’s chemical weapons.

Rethinking prior comments by Panetta seems a must after seeing his subsequent comments over the last few days.

I'm not convinced this guy could find his ass with both hands.

He could have 17 reports from 15 different sources on his desk telling the precise location of those chemical weapons, and still say he had no way of knowing where they were.

Does he know where his car keys are? I doubt it.

Way back when I first saw Mitt Romney on TV as a potential candidate for president the first time, the “inner voice” said loud and clear, “He will be president.” Then Mitt failed to get nominated, so I thought, “So much for that prediction.” I try not to ignore that voice, but when Mitt ran this time, I swore not to vote for him even though I had heard that voice. I finally have to admit that I should pay more attention to the inner voice. It’s not easy to swallow one’s pride(ask Jim Robb) and say, “Okay Lord, I’ll vote for him.”

Thanks for posting this thread. I haven’t seen anything on “...Great Britain refusing use of their bases...”, can you post a link to an article about that?

All of this stuff is just crazy, and very dangerous for us.

I did and still do detest Romney’s politics. I would not pick him and I didn’t.

With all my heart I am trusting that God has decided and I will follow— knowing that He will never lead me astray.

God has a plan and we only need to trust His plan.

He will never let us down. Trust God and not Romney.
