I always say a prayer or two when I see prayer requests on FR. I pray a lot. I believe in the power of prayer.
Well today there is a Freeper who needs our prayers in his fight against cancer.
He is 'hiramknight' here on FR and he is one of my...sorry...he is my closest friend. I have never found anyone who thinks so much like I do. I introduced him to Free Republic and he is someone I can sit with for hours while we discuss and solve all of the world's problems.
Scott is a US Navy veteran and has recently been dignosed with esophageal cancer.
He headed up a team who maintained a wing of Navy P3 Orion sub hunters and also has worked for NASA.
I am in awe of this man and his situation has really thrown me for a loop.
You can read a great deal about him on his FR Profile page.
He is one of the Good Guys and he needs the very real power of the prayers from those here on FR to get through this. Please take a moment of your busy days and ask the Lord to show Scott his power and love and help him expunge this evil from his body. His family and friends need him to come out of this alive.
I am posting some backround from a journal he and his lovely wife are keeping on the CaringBridge website.
If you would like to get updates, feel fre to click through to CaringBridge.com and sign up with nothing more than an email address. A 'throw-away' if you like.
I have not asked him how he feels about me posting this but that is immaterial. I'm posting it and if he doesn't like it he can kiss my arse.
On Sept. 11, 2012 Scott went into the hospital because of a pain in his lower back that he believed was kidney stones, due to family history.
To say kidney stones would be welcomed is putting it mildly. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer that had spread to his liver, making it a stage 4 cancer diagnosis also known as Distant. He has been poked and prodded and tested since then waiting for one of the tests to come back and tell him "hey Scott, we're sorry it is all a terrible mistake, it's just a pulled muscle".
Unfortunately that has not happened. Given his choices of chemo to extend his life but with no hope for a cure, and possibly feel miserable due to the treatments, Scott decided to start researching ( once an engineer always an engineer- thank God) alternative treatments to possibly cure his cancer or at the very least extend his life for as long as possible and not feel horrible. Sadly, the US does not have alternative cancer treatment options ( a story for another day).
With a suggestion from his boss at work Scott researched alternative cancer treatments all over the world and has concluded that Germany is his best hope for success with the second option of returning to the US for a Clinical trial at Dana Farber in Boston, which he is a perfect candidate for. At this writing Scott is due for one final test in the US of his liver and with God's will, will be off to Germany on or October 14th for phase one of his soon to be successful treatment. I started this site so Lina and Scott wouldn't be inundated with having to repeat their story and add stress to Scott. We are so blessed to have one of the best families in the whole world, not just immediate but extended as well.
We know we are all loved and cared about like no other and the best thing we can do for Scott is pray. Feel free to post here Scott will be welcoming your messages and hopefully updating us regularly with good news from Germany. One last thing, I picked this background for the web site because when Scott is all better we are going on vacation to a tropical island, basking in the sun, riding jet skis and parasailing til our hearts content. Xoxo
Prayers headed up for Brother Vet.
May you be Blessed by the Lord.
Sending prayers, and will continue to do so. My humble thanks to this soldier for his service and his sacrifices.
Prayers to a fellow Shipmate. I hope that he is fully cured. How awful to have to go through this. God bless him and his family and to you for being such a great friend!
Prayers for a wonderful young man, his family and friends.
Praying for a recovery. May Our Lord heal you swiftly.
My loving prayers to Scott and all those who love him for God’s miracle of healing to grace Scott and for His love to surround you all.
My late mother had esophageal cancer that spread to her lungs. She fought a valiant battle for 5 years and died sept. 11, 2011. We are pretty sure that it was her heart that finally took her to be with God and not her cancer. she had severe blockages that could not be stented and had broken her hip in the middle of her third cancer relapse and treatment. Long terrible heartbreaking story , but I truly believe she would have beaten the cancer back again if those things had not happened. They have made some remarkable advancements in treatment, so please keep the faith and hope.
Prayers from a grateful heart. God Bless him and his family. He is already blessed to have a friend like you.
Prayers up and may The Holy Spirit be with Scott and his family.
Prayers ON! Glory to God and thanksgiving for you in faith.
Be sure and visit a shrine waiting to see your face! Miracles and assistance are all over these shrines. Be there! We love you. Rita.
Logan’s Prayer Warriors, one of “our own” is in need of prayer. Please do so!
