Benghazi attack: Urgent call for military help ‘was denied by chain of command’
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 10/27/12 | Brad Knickerbocker

Fox News and others report that military help was available during the terrorist attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, but denied. CIA and Pentagon officials strongly deny the claim.

Writing last week in the conservative National Review online, former Marine Corps officer and Reagan administration senior Pentagon official Francis “Bing” West outlined much the same scenario as Fox News, including a timeline of events in Benghazi.

“Fighter jets could have been at Benghazi in an hour; the commandos inside three hours,” Mr. West wrote. “If the attackers were a mob, as intelligence reported, then an F-18 [Navy fighter jet] in afterburner, roaring like a lion, would unnerve them. This procedure was applied often in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Conversely, if the attackers were terrorists, then the U.S. commandos would eliminate them. But no forces were dispatched from Sigonella.”

Thomas Sowell: Benghazi and a climate of Libyan lies

2012-10-25

It was a little much when President Barack Obama said that he was “offended” by the suggestion that his administration would try to deceive the public about what happened in Benghazi. What has this man not deceived the public about?

Remember his pledge to cut the deficit in half in his first term in office? This was followed by the first trillion dollar deficit ever, under any president of the United States — followed by trillion dollar deficits in every year of the Obama administration.

Remember his pledge to have a “transparent” government that would post its legislative proposals on the Internet several days before Congress was to vote on them, so that everybody would know what was happening?

This was followed by an ObamaCare bill so huge and passed so fast that even members of Congress did not have time to read it.

Remember his claims that previous administrations had arrogantly interfered in the internal affairs of other nations — and then his demands that Israel stop building settlements and give away land outside its 1967 borders, as a precondition to peace talks with the Palestinians, on whom there were no preconditions?

As for what happened in Libya, the Obama administration says that there is an “investigation” under way. An “on-going investigation” sounds so much better than “stonewalling” to get past election day. But you can bet the rent money that this “investigation” will not be completed before election day. And whatever the investigation says after the election will be irrelevant.

The events unfolding in Benghazi on the tragic night of September 11th were being relayed to the State Department as the attacks were going on, “in real time,” as they say.

So the idea that the Obama administration now has to carry out a time-consuming “investigation” to find out what those events were, when the information was immediately available at the time, is a little much.

The full story of what happened in Libya, down to the last detail, may never be known. But, as someone once said, you don’t need to eat a whole egg to know that it is rotten.

I suspect Obamugabe the America-hating clown currently occupying the Oval Office will try to force some general or colonel to be the fall guy.

Bigger than Watergate: Proof that the President is Lying about Benghazi?

The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Specter gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours — enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.

Everyone is reporting this but they are missing a key point. From the retired Delta operator:

Having spent a good bit of time nursing a GLD (ground Laser Designator) in several garden spots around the world, something from the report jumped out at me.

One of the former SEALs was actively painting the target. That means that Specter WAS ON STATION! Probably an AC130U. A ground laser designator is not a briefing pointer laser. You do not “paint” a target until the weapons system/designator is synched; which means that the AC130 was on station.

Only two places could have called off the attack at that point; the WH situation command (based on POTUS direction) or AFRICOM commander based on information directly from the target area.

If the AC130 never left Sigonella (as Penetta says) that means that the Predator that was filming the whole thing was armed.

If that SEAL was actively “painting” a target; something was on station to engage! And the decision to stand down goes directly to POTUS!

The Regime’s parsing will not remove their guilt. Those REPEATED commands for readily available military assets to STAND DOWN were REPEATED DENIALS!

Obama should have already made a thorough investigation and reported the findings to the American people. Now he has to deal with a blowup of uncertainty not just in public opinion but also with uncertainty in the military chain of command and ranks. For example:

Is an American General losing his job for trying to save the Americans besieged in Benghazi?

There is definitely something huge being covered up by hussein and his cohorts in crime. Why are generals and admirals being relieved? Why was help denied in the Weeks and days leading up to the attack? Why was no action taken during the attack? Why did it take weeks to do anything? This goes way beyond simple incompetence, this is in the realm of intentionally hanging our people out ... This is the kind of thing that topples administrations...

Of course, anywhere and everywhere, no attribution ever, just spread them around.

A lot of voters are not readers, but are “visual learners” who will never study long wonkish articles, but who will see strong “message” images on Facebook etc.

You are completely right. A graphic like that often has a lot more impact than any article or statement. We need to get this graphic going viral on twitter and Facebook, it says it all.

That’s one Obama cannot do, order and get away with, order a subordinate (a general no less) to take the fall for your decision.

It’s already unraveling thus the “Military-chain”, Pentagon speak for “yes we may have given that order, under the order from above”.

Rahm Emmanuel is on Face the Nation and won’t let Schieffer get a word in edgewise. He has a prepared speech defending Obama’s foreign policy and the Benghazi mess. Refers to Obama as “strong defender of Israel.” Everything that came out of his mouth was meaningless and indefensible, not that anyone followed up asking for explanation. Emmanual wouldn’t allow it.
