Emanuel praises White House on Libya, says Obama ‘took control’

Chicago Mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel defended President Obama's handling of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya on Sunday.
Emanuel, appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” said that Obama "took control and he said exactly what needs to be done" following the Sept. 11 attack, which claimed the lives of four Americans.
Earlier on the program, Arizona Sen. John McCain (R) McCain charged that the Obama administration's handling of the situation amounted to either a "massive cover-up" or incompetence, but Emanuel insisted the conflicting reports following the assault were simply the result of shifting intelligence.
"You have an event, a changing event, you don't have people on the ground, in a sense, with that information. The intelligence community, many different apparatuses -- from military intelligence, national security intelligence, CIA -- is assembling that information to give you the best picture, and events change," he said.
Republicans, though, have pressed the administration over the Libya attack, arguing the president waited too long to acknowledge they were carried out by a terrorist group and questioning if requests for heightened security protections by diplomats on the ground were denied in Washington.
Emanuel went on to defend Obama's handling of foreign affairs, touting his efforts to isolate Iran over its nuclear program, the drawdown of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan as some of the president’s main foreign policy accomplishments.
"If you look across the waterfront, America's leadership has never been stronger," he said.
Republicans see the Libya attacks as providing an opening to attack the president on foreign policy, which polls show is a strength for Obama, buoyed by the mission targeting Osama bin Laden.

Is it any wonder we have a pres who is an emotional robot, and had no problem killing off a gay ambassador? The new normal, and the dumbing down of a moral US. Sen. Moynihan had it right— one of the last decent liberal dems.
I imagine pissing on the 1st Amendment does require some form of control.
If this is Obama taking control, he should not be in control.
The only thing he took control of was the live footage transmitted by the drone and wathced American citizens be murdered while telling better men to step down.
Rahm: tell your buddy Obama to go to the Cuban embassy. They’ll take him. Don’t make the Democrat party go through the horror of a trial. Day after day trying to lie and escape from a debacle that is a million times worse than Iran Contra, DESERT ONE and Watergate all rolled up together. Hillary can go to the Chinese embassy. They gave Bill Clinton money, so they must like the Clintons. It will be tough, but you can claim that they were just bad individuals. A trial kills the whole Democrat party. It will mean twenty years of absolute Republican rule. Tell Obama and Hillary to go now! Save the party!

OK what did he say? What did he do? Thats what we are trying to find out and so far he has stonewalled us.
Does Rahm know what he said? Spill it Rahm. What did he say, what did he do?
Personally I think he said tough Sh*t. or maybe that they were up sh*t creek without a paddle.
Maybe he just said screw em.
In any event he certainly did not say do what you have to do to save these men.

He took control my rear...He went to bed and headed off to Vegas the next morning..If this piece of excrement wins the election again then we will know there is something fishy going on..He is a disaster waiting to happen..He might have told them he would send no help but that was all..
so, CBS was NOT saying to Emanuel - "But Rahm, the questions today, the questions so much recent evidence opens up is not what Obama said or did "following" the attack, but what was ANYONE in Washington D.C. in the administration doing while the attack was unfolding and our people in Benghazi needed help"
but, no CBS let Rahm and the administration off the hook; letting Rahm advance the time line to "following" the attack, when Obama finally said something to the cameras.
Sorry CBS and Rahm, that was "after" the critical time for actually doing something had passed.
So the White House ordered the persons at the safe house to ignore the cries for help from the consulate, but the safe house persons raced over to save Americans in harm’s way. They disobeyed orders to save three black security personnel and theambassador and Sean Smith. Obama was going to let the three black consulate personnel die or be kidnapped for ransom. Why did Obama leave a skeleton crew to protect the ambassador/consulate? When will the media interview these three black employees who Obama wanted to leave to die?

People without top secret clearances all over the world are being told things by this administration. Think about it. How dangerous is it to give top secret info to Stephanie Cutter or David Axelrod?
I don’t understand why more conservatives don’t remember, don’t get it... what is the Least Common Denominator in ALL Obama incompetence—indeed his very existence as a politician?
The Clintons. They own Obama’s soul, and their souls are already pledged. The Clintons are one of the primary sources of evil on earth.
