Former National Security Adviser Bud McFarlane told FOX News today:
“You don’t just passively allow Americans to remain under attack for eight hours at a time when you have forces within range and do nothing. The Secretary of Defense was in the White House at five o’clock within an hour of when the attacks started. He could have told him, “Yes. We have special operations peope and F18 aircraft that could be deployed right away. To have known what he had available, to have known that Americans were under fire, and to have done nothing, is dereliction of duty that I have never seen in a Commander in Chief from a president of any party. Outrageous.”

Denial of requests for security were a dereliction of duty. The lies and misdirection about the "video" after the attack were fraud and malfeasance under the color of authority. The inaction during the attack was something more than that.
The failure to act during the attack is the direct equivalent of desertion IMO.
ONE man had the authority to act that night.

This was a full-on terrorist attack, with road blocks made in advance and if 0bama did indeed watch this in the situation room he clearly LIED and made a concerted effort (Susan Rice, etc) to cover up the fact this was a terrorist attack. 0bama was obviously worried about the draw-down of Stevens' security becoming known, and the overall repercussions to his re-election campaign. Public knowledge of his doing deals with terrorists (Fast & Furious II) was perhaps his main concern.
Panetta should be called before Congress and asked to explain how it is we don't send military to beat back terrorists from taking and killing our Ambassador. If our military can't overcome risk, why do we have one?
What’s amazing through all of this recent news is how non-chalant Obammy is about it all.
I actually would have appreciated if someone in the obamanation would have done the right thing for the sake of the country.
