There are a lot of FReepers in the path of this storm, those who live in NJ, PA, NY, and the New England states.
Prayers up for the safety of everyone and it’s potential for an impact on the election.
I don’t trust the current regime,.... er.... administration.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
REPORTS FROM AN AIR FORCE HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT INDICATE THAT
THE MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN NEAR 85 MPH...140 KM/H...WITH
HIGHER GUSTS. SANDY IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION INTO A FRONTAL OR
WINTERTIME LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM PRIOR TO LANDFALL. HOWEVER...THIS
TRANSITION WILL NOT BE ACCOMPANIED BY A WEAKENING OF THE SYSTEM...
AND IN FACT...A LITTLE STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE DURING THIS
PROCESS. SANDY IS EXPECTED TO WEAKEN AFTER MOVING INLAND.
HURRICANE-FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 175 MILES...280 KM...FROM
THE CENTER...AND TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 485
MILES...780 KM. SUSTAINED TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE WINDS ARE OCCURRING

THE MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE ESTIMATED FROM HURRICANE HUNTER
AIRCRAFT DATA IS 946 MB...27.94 INCHES.
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
STORM SURGE...THE COMBINATION OF AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS STORM SURGE
AND THE TIDE WILL CAUSE NORMALLY DRY AREAS NEAR THE COAST TO BE
FLOODED BY RISING WATERS. THE WATER COULD REACH THE FOLLOWING
DEPTHS ABOVE GROUND IF THE PEAK SURGE OCCURS AT THE TIME OF HIGH
TIDE...
NC NORTH OF SURF CITY INCLUDING PAMLICO/ALBEMARLE SOUNDS...4 TO 6 FT
SE VA AND DELMARVA INCLUDING LOWER CHESAPEAKE BAY...2 TO 4 FT
UPPER AND MIDDLE CHESAPEAKE BAY...1 TO 3 FT
LONG ISLAND SOUND...RARITAN BAY...AND NEW YORK HARBOR...6 TO 11 FT
ELSEWHERE FROM OCEAN CITY MD TO THE CT/RI BORDER...4 TO 8 FT
CT/RI BORDER TO THE SOUTH SHORE OF CAPE COD INCLUDING BUZZARDS
BAY AND NARRAGANSETT BAY...3 TO 6 FT
CAPE COD TO THE MA/NH BORDER INCLUDING CAPE COD BAY...2 TO 4 FT
MA/NH BORDER TO THE U.S./CANADA BORDER...1 TO 3 FT
SURGE-RELATED FLOODING DEPENDS ON THE RELATIVE TIMING OF THE SURGE
AND THE TIDAL CYCLE...AND CAN VARY GREATLY OVER SHORT DISTANCES.
GIVEN THE LARGE WIND FIELD ASSOCIATED WITH SANDY...ELEVATED WATER
LEVELS COULD SPAN MULTIPLE TIDE CYCLES RESULTING IN REPEATED AND
EXTENDED PERIODS OF COASTAL AND BAYSIDE FLOODING. IN ADDITION...
ELEVATED WATERS COULD OCCUR FAR REMOVED FROM THE CENTER OF SANDY.
FURTHERMORE...THESE CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR REGARDLESS OF WHETHER
SANDY IS A TROPICAL OR POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE. FOR INFORMATION
SPECIFIC TO YOUR AREA...PLEASE SEE PRODUCTS ISSUED BY YOUR LOCAL
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE.
RAINFALL...RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED OVER FAR

NEXT ADVISORY
Up here in Hartford it isn’t a big deal yet.
Light drizzle and a gentle breeze.
It’s supposed to pick up around noon, after which we’ll have 55mph gusts until tomorrow noon. We might lose power and perhaps some branches. Maybe. Its a different story on the coast.
So Sandy will knock the rest of the leaves off the trees and I’ll only have to spend one weekend raking instead of the usual four weekends.
Hey Mom!
An image from high tide this morning
16 feet above mean high tide this morning due to sustained northeast winds. Just my live at the beach for 52 years observation. Tonight will be bad.
There are already a school closings. A bunch of schools are closing at noon, but they are so far out in the sticks, in the North Country, that they cover a huge area and it takes forever to get the kids to and from school. Seems to me that considering the isolated area, it’s prudent for them to close early.

I live on Long Island near the water, and if, or should I say when I get flooded, Obama better get FEMA here pronto wif my check otherwise I’m going to do a Kanye West and declare Obama doesn’t like white people.

The One has failed us all.
Being a vet of Outer Banks NC hurricanes, Sandy is a monster. IMO some affected north east areas will never be the same.

An appropriate flashback with Hurricane Sandy barreling down on the East Coast.
Went into work at 6:30 this morning....saw a few patients and we decided to close early (I’m on Long Island). We also decided to open late tomorrow, at noon, for emergencies.
Looks like I’m not going in tomorrow. Anywho, I came home and my computer was off,but was not an electric failure (clocks not blinking). Looks like cable. So I went to turn on my computer and it was just beeping and NOT working!
My wonderful landlords got a new laptop and they said I could have their old one (this one), once they cleaned it up.
I called the wife and begged for a favor...if I could borrow this laptop until I can get my computer fixed. She is so wonderful she gave it to me in a heartbeat.
I could NOT imagine not having access to FR, or Rush....WABC still has whore-aldo on covering the storm instead of Rush on radio.
I’ll be plugged in until we lose power (hopefully not). Bottom line....there ARE still many a good soul out there.
She also told me if we do lose electric, they have plenty of food and wine and have a wood burning stove, so I can always go up and heat up my food.
I didn’t take this seriously until today. I also found a place to park so the dead trees around here do not destroy my truck!

Is FR REALLY slow or is it just me?
