A salute to the Coast Guard!

It's only just begun folks, and just as 'THEY' posted this the winds clicked up and the trees started bending over in that signature 60 MPH gust posture ~ please note the 'unexpectedly' part of that notice from www.wtop.com ~ earlier forecasts of 25 to 40 mph winds have idiots down at the Potomac looking at stuff
They should be thankful Panetta wasn’t involved.
Real pros, thanks for posting this amazing video. Sad loss, and unfortunately, avoidable.
Those guys are true heroes in my eyes. The rescues they do off the coast of Alaska are also incredible (and I’m sure 1000’s of others that we never see). When you think of the personal risks they take to save others it is awe inspiring.
I recall the Coast Guard has a saying:
“You have to go out. You don’t have to come back.”
You are correct. Having served 4 years with this great organization we did things that I thought we would not come back from. In today's media it is 24/7 with access to everything, when I was in we did the same stuff but there was much less media. This is one time the media actually did something right.
Didn't you need realtime intel in order to justify committing assets? (\sarc)
