It's all anecdotal at this point, but if crime reports following hurricanes Katrina and Irene are any indication, the East Coast is in for a crime wave, post-Sandy.

No reports of looting or Hurricane Sandy-related crimes have been reported yet but that doesn't mean we won't see some soon.

Following Hurricane Katrina, the most devastating hurricane in modern memory, New Orleans was besieged with reports of looting, rape, and murder, causing delayed troop deployments, delayed medical evacuations, and police department mutiny, The New York Times reported in 2005....(excerpt)

Giuliani, if in charge, would probably issue a shoot to kill order for anyone ransacking/looting/arson-ing a retail outlet, such as a large department store, etc.

The Chocolate City was “special” as regards that problem. I mean, where else are you gonna see POLICE OFFICERS pushing shopping carts full of loot through a Wal-Mart?

In spite of the anecdotes I just don’t see looting of those proportions happening in NY/NJ. I could be wrong.

If it *does* happen, I don’t expect we’ll see many pictures of looting mobs of Holder’s People on our teevees, not with the election only a week away.

There is no reason to imagine looting ~ there’s water all over the place, roads are closed, subways are out of business, power is out, .......

Because the media doesn’t want to be accused of racial profiling, their cameras will not be aimed at that part of the aftermath.

I say you are a dreamer—but you're not the only one...

...yeah like all the crooks evacuated leaving untold riches behind—especially in Manhattan.

Bloomberg will be arresting illegal gun owners by the bushel as they try to defend themselves from savages.

What’s that old saying? “A conservative is a liberal that has been mugged.”

After Sandy and the looters and the Mayor’s abuses we might just have us a whole passel o’ new conservatives! Living right in downtown Manhattan! With passion and MONEY! :-)

Unlike the poor people in New Orleans this community’s civilians are heavily armed and can deal with the police should they start stealing our cadillacs.
