The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 49% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 47%. One percent (1%) prefers some other candidate, and another two percent (2%) remain undecided. See daily tracking history.
Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters have a favorable opinion of Romney and 48% say the same of Obama.

I think Romney had a bigger lead in the swing state poll yesterday.
The storm will give Bammy an [undeserved] bounce. Unfortunately this will extend beyond the affected areas. I expect when the rain dies down his ugly face will be all over the TV showing concern, telling everyone that Big Bro is there to help, any other lies that he thinks may get him votes.

I think any poll taken since Saturday is going to be pretty much useless. Sandy is so screwing up 1/3 of the country that it CANNOT be regionally balanced. People are running for their lives and they won’t be answering phones-—if the power is still on.
That must be why 48% think Obama will be re-elected. Obviously there are undecideds who don’t know or who don’t care.

Time to refocus on the election
I hope you are right, but we shouldn’t underestimate the impact this may have. Our country comes together during a crisis and rallies around the president. Whether that translates to votes next week, only time will tell. But everyone here who is discounting the impact of this on the election is not grasping the significance.
A compliant media makes your concern that much more valid.

Obama continues to stay at 47%. That is the number that needs to be discussed. An incumbent at 47% has no chance of being re-elected. The only polls that show him getting even to 49% are D+7 samples, which will never happen.
I still predict, R+2 turnout, and a Romney win of 5-6 points.
Obama will get that bump is a few NE states he was going to win anyway. Like New York and New Jersey. Pennsylvania is in play but unaffected by the storm

Did anyone look in on The New Weather Channel last night? It used to be called Fox News. Boring format. I watched Monday Night Football instead. Also boring. And FR was SLOW. Not a good Monday night.
Important battleground states like Ohio, Virginia and florida, being so close (if indeed they are) could sway a couple points toward O because of the face time he’ll get from MSM looking all heroic, and they will surely help him out any way they can. I hope we’re wrong, but it makes me nervous.

I’m not seeing reporters in WV reporting on the scene or even western PA but then again the media think NJ and NY where they live and work is America and the rest of us who have had to put up with much worse storms and tornado’s which have wiped out towns or even floods in Tn is just what ever states.

Although I am a bit concerned with how the media will exploit this for Obama, if you believe that this storm will help you have to identify those voters that it would shift.
At this point, you would have to believe that it will flip indy’s and/or Republican voters.

I live in the Northeast and while we had a good blow yesterday here in northern MA, things are already getting back to normal. A bunch of branches and leaves everywhere but it's autumn - this is the time of year we have to rake our yards anyhow. We have some power outages but we get this in any big storm. By the weekend, this storm is going to be a distant memory anyhow.
Hardest hit areas were NY/NJ and even those states will be getting back to normal by the weekend, except maybe on the immediate coast which are heavily Democratic anyhow. Impact on election will be close to nil.
I agree with this. They’ll also show clips of Romney saying that FEMA needs to be shrunk and more power needs to go to states in disaster situations.
Obama will come out of all of this looking like a hero. In the meantime, his total failure in Libya and the entire Middle East will fall completely off of the radar. This storm couldn’t have happened at a better time for him.
I know circumstances were different (by that I mean party labels), but there was no rallying around the President after Katrina. In fact, there was a crucifiction of a President after Katrina. Obviously, the media is going to try to use this to prop up Obama.
What I have to hope would happen here is that Romney is not going to lose votes. He has this election won in terms of votes, where he is at 50% in most key states, and Obama 45-48%. I have to doubt someone who’s made up their mind changes it. It could easily impact those undecideds and swing a few back to Obama who otherwise have been hesitant to vote for him again this cycle. Unless Obama does something heroic, other than ‘be there’ looking important, I don’t see this have a radical effect. This election was all but over two days ago, and it will take a major swing to change that.

I said it before. This storm likely saved Obama’s presidency. It got Bengazi and Romney out of the news just in time. And when that ahole Christie sings his praises, those soft undecided types see that and think “Maybe he is a good President after all...”
Watching Greta was pretty revealing. She's trying to paint a picture of mass death and destruction but all the guests she spoke with were people in Atlantic City and Ocean City who stayed put and came through unharmed because they wanted to protect their property and most importantly, have access to their homes in the aftermath of the storm.

He did such a great job pontificating from the White House! The drive-by's hung on his every word. They hyped how he "bravely" cancelled his Florida campaign appearance to fly back to Washington DC to "monitor" the storm. I like Rush's commentary:

Wow, bring it down a notch here. Obviously none of us know whether some surprising voter response could come out of this weather event, but you basically would need the the independents who Romney appears to be winning (who probably lean a little more conservative anyway) to then SWITCH their intended vote to Obama because “he seems to care about us”. It could happen, but that is what you are calling as fact it would seem.
