The Tennessee Democratic Party is trying to take full advantage of news accounts detailing extra marital affairs of Republican Congressman Scott DesJarlais. The party chair now sees dethroning the freshman representative as a political parting shot..

Over the weekend, the Chattanooga Times Free Press published the story of an anonymous woman who says she dated DesJarlais and that they smoked marijuana together. Even the newspaper said it couldn’t confirm all the details. The DesJarlais campaign issued a statement questioning the factual accuracy but not denying the decade-old affair.

A Republican who has an extra-marital affair - I have high standards.

Sure, the Democrats are hypocrites but we deserve better - much better!

It’s a conservative district, and Romney has an 18-point lead in Tennessee, so there should be enough coattails for DesJarlais.

Then make a note to have him defeated in the 2014 primaries.

Or do you think the Democrat is the more moral candidate?

No.

I think voters don’t want to reward such conduct.

There were personal accusations in 2010 too, and DesJarlais beat Lincoln Davis 57-39 percent.

It is OK for Osama Obama to freely admit that he had smoked marijuana in his college days but it is routine for the two faced hypocrites to then accuse Republicans of the same thing but use it as a weapon to destroy them.

I can pretty much guarantee that the very people who are making the charges have themselves (probably freely, often and with glee) used various drugs “often” and “openly” - but that doesn’t matter - it is the charge that is important not the character of the accusers that is important.

He's "scum" on the basis of "the story of an anonymous woman"?

For a few bucks, I bet I could find a woman willing to anonymously declare she saw you performing anal penetration of a two-year-old golden retriever.

My main desire is to have someone representing me in Congress with a vote against the Pelosi gang of liberals and socialists.

No, he's doing a good job destroying himself.

This is the same guy who on tape encouraged his mistress to get an abortion if she was pregnant. While I don't like the affair, that's one thing. Pro-abortion actions however to avoid embarrassment is a whole other matter. Send him home.

Luckily for him, I don't live in his district. I would not vote for him for anything. Being pro-life starts not with votes, but personal actions.

To add - I hope he gets a primary in 2014.

Sorry, dude. You’re buying into the liberal-media myth about Congressman DesJarlais. The TN rodents are enraged they lost this Conservative seat and have rolled out the sleaze and distortions to destroy a good man. The real scum is the Stewart-Davis cabal... the same folks who supported and elected the Stalinist sex-crazed poodle Manbearpig to Congress from this very district.

“Romney has an 18-point lead in Tennessee, so there should be enough coattails for DesJarlais.”

A 25-point lead in the MTSU poll released Oct. 27th:

I agree.

DesJarlais has been in office for two years and they spring this in the last 10 days before the election?

If the allegations are true, the guy obviously needs to clean up his personal life. And, if true, be opposed in the primary in 2014. But not ditched from office to be replaced by a Dhimm.

Don’t believe this crap about DesJarlais. Reliable conservative vote in Congress. Whole boatloads better than the DemonRAT he replaced.

Actually, DesJarlais had a primary opponent in 2012 and won with something like 77 percent.

Scott DesJarlais is my congressman. I have a "dog in this hunt", so to speak.

First, let's take a look at the source... WPLN... Used to be the Nashville "Public Library Network". That is what the "PLN" stood for... Same call letters used today, but now is Nashville Public Radio and all of their news comes from PRN. You know, that bastion of liberalism on the airwaves. I have yet to meet an employee of this station that wasn't an "Al Gore is great!" Bat-Crap-Crazy, left-wing nut case.

Next, let's take a look at the source quoted by WPLN. That Chattanooga paper that I will not name. The same one that so rabidly supported Lincoln Davis against DesJarlais. This unconfirmed information is being fed to that paper by none other than Lincoln Davis. Lincoln Davis was a self-important "Look at me! Look at me!" liberal democrat that toed the party line at every turn. His ego couldn't handle the crushing blow delt him when DesJarlais won, and Lincoln has been a sore loser ever since. He is heavily backing DesJarlais' opponent in this race, and together they have done nothing but try to sully DesJarlais' reputation since the primaries. They tried several weeks ago by bringing up DesJarlais' divorce from years ago, saying he "had a mistress" when in fact DesJarlais and his wife were legally separated at the time. They actually only dated for about 6 months. They said DesJarlais got the "mistress" pregnant and that he told her to get an abortion when in fact there wasn't even a pregnancy. None of this gained any traction in the press, and it made Lincoln and DesJarlais' opponent look like petty children pointing fingers (again) about something that was proven false last election. Since that didn't work, they are now trotting out another woman that conveniently wishes to have her identity protected (while trying to trash another individual).

These are desperate, last minute attempts to cause doubts in the minds of voters with hopes of winning some over to the democrat ticket.

I have met and spoken with Scott DesJarlais many times over the past several years and have found him to be very geniune in his conservatism. He has gone against the Republican party when they were not conservative enough... The fact that he may have had some marital troubles fourteen years ago means nothing to me at this point. Everyone has fallen short of the grace of God on many occassions... He has made his statements about the divorce and has admitted his imperfections. I believe him regarding the dating while he was legally separated. I can tell you that he has a wonderful marriage now and that he has been a great father to his children and to the son of his current wife (son is from a previous marriage, husband deceased.)

I give no credence to the story or to the primary and secondary sources of it. As far Davis and that crew, I wouldn't give the the time of day - let alone my vote.

Right, he knocked off Lincoln Davis by over 18%.

DesJarlais has an ACU score of about 88; Davis was in the 21 to 38 range, so nice swing with DesJarlais’s victory in 2010.
