RUSH: Vienna, Virginia. Holly, thanks for calling. Thanks for waiting. It's great to have you here on the EIB Network. Hi.

CALLER: Hi. Thanks for taking my call.

RUSH: You bet.

CALLER: It's a great segue talking about closing the gender gap. Because I'm one of those women that voted for Obama last time and I don't want anything to do with him this time.

RUSH: Why did you vote for him the first time? There's no wrong answer. I'm not looking to criticize you. Don't misunderstand.

CALLER: Oh, I know, I know. It's just a little embarrassing for me 'cause I think of myself as a smart person, but I really got caught up in the campaign and the rhetoric and drank the Kool-Aid. You know, I heard him talking about hope and change, uniting the country, transparency in government, and all of those things sounded really good.

RUSH: The end of partisanship. The end of bickering and arguing and all that appealed to you?

CALLER: Exactly. But what I realized was, a lot of that they never really defined, so everybody had their own definition of what that change was gonna be.

RUSH: Yep. That was the design. He was a blank canvas.

CALLER: Exactly.

RUSH: You could make him whatever you wanted him to be based on what your dreams were.

CALLER: Right. And I first started feeling some discomfort when I was noticing religious liberties being challenged and that kind of made me think differently and opened my eyes and I guess you could say I woke up.

RUSH: Are you Catholic?

CALLER: No, I'm a Christian. But, I mean, Catholics are Christian, too, but I'm a Protestant, I guess I should say.

RUSH: What about the War on Women? How did that hit you, when you first heard it? I mean, that actual terminology and the accusation the Republicans were conducting a War on Women?

CALLER: I believed it all. I believed it. I believed all the lies of the mainstream media. And actually, I even owe you an apology because I believed everything they had to say about you. So, sorry about that, sir. But as I woke up and I was realizing all this stuff, I felt so alone. I was just thinking, "Does anybody else see what's going on?" And I was talking to one of my clients one day, and she had all this information. And I said, "Where do you hear all this? Where are you learning about all this?" And she turned me on to Fox News, and I live here in the Washington, DC, area, and she told me about listening to WMAL, and that's when I first heard your program and, you know, Sean Hannity and a lot of the others. And I just really started understanding more and more about the truth of what was going on. So since then I've become quite involved with doing whatever I can do to get Obama out. I've taken friends to see the 2016 movie.

RUSH: Wow, you are all-in. You must have really ended up feeling insulted at some point.

CALLER: I felt insulted, but I just felt snookered, if that's a technical term.

RUSH: I know exactly what you mean. You fell for it, and it made you mad, and you've seen through it. That is fascinating. Holly, welcome home. Welcome home.

I haven’t listened to Rush in years. Not purposely, just don’t have the chance. When I first started listening to him, it was only because he followed another program I listened to. I remember thinking how what he said made sense and he didn’t seem like a “right-wing nut” that many in the media tried to portray him as. I believed what I had heard about him without ever hearing him. After listening to him for several days, I realized I couldn’t argue with anything he was saying. He was just speaking the truth. It is amazing how people (myself) will just accept things at face value without doing their own investigation.

FR has been a big help in steering me in the “right” direction.

I love hearing about people who woke up. It takes courage to admit you got ‘snookered” by the annointed one.
good for her

I think there are many many who got taken in by him but who won’t admit it.
that is all right as long as they vote right this time

Great Rush call.
Kaslin
thanks for posting

People are rightly informed or wrongly misinformed on many different levels.

I knew we had been snookered by Bush the 2nd long before the end of his first term but the Bush idol worship went on here for years and years - I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why people couldn’t see the guy is a RINO but we see what we want to see. Only voted for McCain to deflect an Obama win but too many were caught up in the deception.

This is a good testimony the lady has.

There are many well meaning people out there who are utterly devoid of “street brains” regarding con men like Obama. At least this one woke up, and is actually helping to remove O.

This reminds me of an incident that occurred to me several years ago. I was at a scientific conference. One of the sessions was on GLOBAL WARMING. One speaker was giving the standard alarmist doctrine, that it's all our fault. At the question period I challenged him, citing contrary evidence. His only response was ad hominem, I was giving the Republicans arguments. He made no effort to refute my arguments.

But to my point. On the way out I was stopped by one of the other attendees. He said to me, "Why don't I know these things?" I was able to point him to some sources. He was a technically qualified person, attending a scientific conference. Yet like so many people, he didn't take the effort to check on what he was being told in the news media. It wasn't his specialty, so he accepted the warmist propaganda without question.

So much of the population doesn't realize how they're being lied to by the media.

Ultimate "Liberal Converting to Conservative" story I've read is Radical Son by David Horowitz.

Long read, but there was no more bona-fide liberal than Horowitz before a murder finally woke him up.

Recommended to all.

I remember first hearing Rush in CA, driving around in a rental car on a business trip, before he went national.

I was shocked and transfixed at the same time. Boston had Jerry Williams, a populist ‘talker’ at the time, but this was completely different.

Now the one show I like to catch is Larry Kudlow on Saturdays.

I do too. But what bothers me is they never had the wherewithall to seek out both sides of the debate to begin with.

I liked Bush and I still do. I’m not going to defend the fact that he was a RINO on domestic policy and didn’t fight against the media nearly enough, but I really think that it was his foreign policy that did it. In other words, I’m part of the generation that was defined by 9/11, and he was a leader in the days following it, and that’s what I’m going to remember about him.

Obama, on the other hand? What I’m going to remember about HIM is the fact that thanks to him and his government, my financial aid fell through for three years in a row and I was forced to take out $20,000 more in student loans, and that includes me having a job.
