Posted on 10/30/2012 3:47:47 PM PDT by RoosterRedux
This one is really hard to believe, even for the most biased so-called "news network" in the nation.
MSNBC on Tuesday totally trashed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for collecting food and supplies at a storm rally event in Ohio to be sent to victims of Hurricane Sandy (video follows with transcript and commentary):

After introducing his Obama-supporting guests Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Lehigh professor James Peterson, host Martin Bashir played a clip of the President speaking at the Red Cross headquarters in Washington Tuesday.
When the clip concluded, Bashir said, Mayor Reed, so the Red Cross knows what its doing. Did he, did you detect perhaps a subtle dig there on Mr. Romney who spent today going against the guidelines established by the Red Cross and holding a campaign rally in Ohio that was dressed up like a charity drive collecting food and other supplies when the Red Cross expressly asked people not to do that?
Imagine that. A presidential candidate who gives millions of dollars a year to charity does a storm relief event in Ohio, and an MSNBC anchor is disgusted by it because the Red Cross would prefer people donating cash.
Yet according to the Washington Post:
The stop was billed as a storm relief event, and attendees were asked to bring non-perishable foods and other items for those affected by the storm. Long white tables to one side of the cavernous James S. Trent Arena were piled high with flashlights, batteries, diapers, toothbrushes, mini-deodorants, fleece blankets, cereal, toilet paper and canned goods.
Two large TV screens at the front of the venue bore the logo of the American Red Cross and the message: Sandy: Support the Relief Effort.

Romney gave the liberal media a “how low can you go” test. And they did not disappoint.
Romney shouldn't allowed to participate in a relief effort. That's the president's yob.
What if Romney actually looked like a humanitarian...unacceptable!
He must dress like a vampire...it will soon be Halloween after all.
Communists and unions (redundant) don’t like private people helping each other. That’s the government’s job.
The Red Cross prefers cash; yeah, we’ve all seen how much cash actually gets to those in need and how excruciatingly slow it is in getting there as well as the bureaucracy involved.
MSNBC is just another propaganda arm for the National Socialist Democrat Party.
Yes, it always has been “crawl back into the gutters” for the DemoRATS. These people are just pure trash — and no need to point it out. They do that DAILY through their own acts and via the so-called media.
Romney for President. PLEASE!!!
Together they could raise millions ASAP (and Romney wouldn't even claim credit).
Note: I have never cared for Romney...but I must admit, I now know that he has always gone above and beyond in his efforts to help others (and never bragged about it...or even let it be known).
By the way, during Romney’s remarks at the event, he explicitly asked that people also give to the Red Cross.
I said before, and I’ll repeat again.
Be prepared for the media HATE HATE HATE for the next few years, under president Romney.
Bush went out of his way to mollify Dems, did him absolutely no good.
Romney should be smarter than that. But I have my doubts....
They ridicule what they are threatened by.
Beyond that, these ****ing worms from the dirt need to be scraped form the shoes of America.
some writer at the UK telegraph was too
They're not letting a crisis go to waste.
You can’t please these people no matter what, so just do what you’re going to do and do the right thing.
Wasn’t it John Kerry who made the statement that Americans shouldn’t give to the Charity of THEIR choice - that they should, instead, have to give money to the government and let THEM choose the charity since THEY are so much better than we are at knowing where the money is needed most. Talk about aristocratic arrogance and a complete lack of respect for the intelligence of voters (not to mention the sheer audacity of thinking he has the right to put his hands in OUR wallets and take out the money WE worked for so he can pass it on to the charity of his choosing!) How have we ended up with such a government of entitlement attitude buffoons????
I would call Obamacytes maggots, but that's an insult to maggots.
Obama and his followers are lower than any life form.
You 100% nailed it. Though come on Mitt, was there ever really any doubt the MSM would sink that low?
Jesus Christ himself could come back to earth at a Romney campaign event, and if Mitt washed his feet and gave him his shoes... all the MSM would see is cruelty to animals 'cause Mitt gave him something made of leather. They'd be interviewing PETA, a shoemaker's union rep, and talking about how many shoes are now made in China (blaming Mitt).
That's because people were disgusted with the Red Cross after 9/11 when they used the cash donations to upgrade their telephone systems, when people gave the money to help the families who were hurt by the attack.
I wouldn’ give one red cent to the Red Cross.
The Salvation Army?? Yes
you know this is the jummuh cartah human rights only when its a political convenience bunch of idiots.
“The Red Cross prefers cash; yeah, weve all seen how much cash actually gets to those in need and how excruciatingly slow it is in getting there as well as the bureaucracy involved.”
I was thinking the same thing. Hard to skim cans of Pork&Beans...

The Red Cross is a pathetic organization, in my eyes. I have never donated to them, nor will I ever. I’ll never forgive them for the stories my grandfather told me about being in Europe during WWII and the Red Cross would come out with hot coffee and fresh donuts for the troops - they charged the troops for them. My grandfather would watch them, frozen from the cold, and couldn’t buy a hot coffee as his priorities were elsewhere, financially. Screw the Red Cross.
Yes, you know it is wrong of me to insult life forms on this planet that have actual functions, both worms and maggots have such.
These “human beings” who behaved in this manner today are without a doubt the lowest life form on this planet.
I am very glad that they are no where around me and that there is significant distance between us, because anything other than that may lead me to do something that I would most certainly not regret.
The left had a Hail Mary Pass Play pulled on them by Romney and MSNBC has its panties in a twist. What a laugh.
Romney scored BIG with Americans for what he did.
There are now very few doubts in Ohio about who should be the next president.
My mother hates them. When she was a child, her family was flooded out, and the Red Cross was there to help - and they passed out bills for everything they "gave" people.
They are the walking dead!
Yes, the Salvation Army, I too was going to recommend giving to them.
My dad told me when he came back from the Korean War be was dropped off in a hanger. All he wanted was a cup of hot coffee.
In the hanger the Red Cross set up a welcome table. He went to get a cup of coffee that was set out in pots on the table. He was told it was for Officers only unless he paid for it.
A young woman who was sitting behind the Salvation Army’s table called over to him and said he was more then welcome to have their coffee and doughnuts. It was for everyone.
My father never forgot this and always donated to the Salvation Army when he could.
Screw the Red Cross.
Funny. I just posted a similar story my father told me about the Korean War. So it wasn’t just a fluke. The Red Cross did treat our troops like crap.
I'm a "Sallie"(salvation army) man myself. I know they are the most efficient charity around, in cost to service ratio.
Which is why the election will be called for Romney by 8:00 PM November 6th west coast time.
They’re so predictable.
If Romney did absolutely nothing, just said a few words and kept on campaigning like it was business as usual, he would have been crucified for not showing that he cared. You just can’t win either way.
ditto. red cross, united way, most national charities get nothing. i will give to local charities and churches where i know the money is well spent.
During the Korean war the Red Cross made soldiers sign IOU's for coffee and donuts. The Salvation army gave them away for free.
You can guess which charity my father always gave to and which one he never gave to.
Perfect graphic of our commie-media.
pray for America
This shameful ridicule of Romney’s gesture began
last night on MSNBC. While channel surfing, I had
the misfortune of bumping into Lawrence O’Donnell and his
3 panel members guffawing and smirking and deriding the
fact that Mitt was announcing this action for today in
Ohio. Could not change the channel fast enough!
And I echo those who support donating to the Salvation
Army over the Red Cross.

The Red Cross did somethings for the people in Johnstown PA after the flood. It was the Salvation Army that really led the way for the people there. Ask anyone in Johnstown. The Salvation Army cares about people in general and helps everyone. I notice they are not in the limelight of helping Sandy’s Victims. Could it be they believe it is better to help people rather than getting press coverage while trying to raise funds?
Andrea Mitchell ridiculed Romneys efforts too, and called them wasteful.
I heard the same stories over and over from my grandfather. One in particular was after clearing the beachheads in Leyti Gulf. Food was sparse, and they were shooting down coconuts and breaking them anyway they could. The Red Cross had some of the GI’s set up a beautiful tent one day. Later he noted they called the officers in first, and he witnessed the officers coming out with coffee and donuts. About late afternoon, after the GI’s were rampantly hungry and angry about watching the officers walk out smiling, smoking, and joking, the Red Cross called everyone else to come on over, they were now open for all!. The GI’s were so excited he said. When they got inside, there were two lines, one for GI’s the other for officers. The officer line was free coffee and donuts, the GI line was “cash and carry”. What was worse, was that he said they were selling sheets of paper for a nickel. He said guys were asking for paper to write home with, and they were charging a nickel a sheet. He said you could get a stack of paper for a nickel anywhere else. He said one guy was very upset about this, and a captain tried to calm him down. The guy was so pissed my grandfather said. Finally, the captain told the red cross lady that there would have no selling of paper, something to the effect of “these boys have been through hell and back, and if they want a sheet of paper, you’ll give it to them, because those amphibious tanks behind the tent, have bad brakes, and one could just roll through here, and if you get these boys mad, they’ll just watch it roll on in”. All the GI’s laughed at the implied threat, and after that, sheets of paper were free.
He never game a dime to the Red Cross, even when the company he worked for told all the employees that they “expected a good donation” from everyone. He told them to shove it.
But he always gave generously to the Salvation Army, and left a good amount to them in his estate when he passed away.
He made sure all of us kids and grand-kids knew how the Red Cross treated them when they were overseas.
I’ve told that story a few times, and someone told me years ago that that was the “international red cross”, not the American Red Cross. I don’t know if that is true or not, maybe someone smarter than me could elaborate.
I’ve never been a fan of Romney either, all for Cain in the beginning. He is so far showing that he can/might/will do the right things to reset the nightmare that has been shoved up our arses by der Fuehrer. I am coming to admiring him a lot more. Can/might/will is leaps and bounds above the alternative of four more years of this grab for dictatorship by the kenyan and the democrat party.
